I think saying better than Philon is a reach. If he was he would be in the draft also but love the guys size and how he drives to the bucket. He is not a good 3 pt shooter which is usually somebody CNO would not recruit but having three guards at 6'5" or more would be great to have since that is what we have lacked somewhat.

Claude seems like a weird fit to me. He is a 27% 3 point shooter in his career. He has improved some but still shot just 30% last year. He does finish well at the rim and has size for a guard but if he doesn’t shoot better teams will play off him like they did Estrada. Estrada was a better facilitator though.

We don't need his scoring. We just need him to make plays with his defensive efforts. Also remember he was in a different system.

Disagree 100% here. Philon, from all reports, didn't like having to attend school. Thus, he'd rather make $$$ in the G-league rather than in the NCAA... and that's perfectly ok. Now if you want to compare floors and ceilings, that's fair game. But to use this reasoning is flawed IMO.

Most don't like attending school. Philon is showing up in some mock drafts in the 1st round. The overwhelming majority of D1 players are not professional players. I don't see how you watching a 3 minute highlight tape of a kid makes you think he is better than Philon. That is flawed IMO.

That's probably why his post said that his film suggests he's a better player....

Ok... so let's see what numbers say in relation to the film. Philon averaged 10.6 points/3.8 assists/3.3 rebounds per game last season whereas Claude averaged 15.8/4.2/3.5 last year at Cal and 16.6/3.2/3.2 at Xavier the year prior. And experience-wise, there's absolutely no contest. Having NBA potential doesn't doesn't equate to NCAA productivity - Josh Primo is a poster child for this fact. At THIS point in their careers when comparing their stats, Claude is most likely the better player. BTW, you cite his 3 pt. shooting percentage. Care to look up Philon's last year? Also, my son attends UA and has classes with/works with several athletes. And while many do despise school, some tell him they stay because getting a degree is still quite useful.

Just my .02 but comparing potential incoming transfers to guys whose eligibility is no longer in contention in Tuscaloosa is not conducive to anything positive and can be borderline detrimental. Philon was a stud for us last year and I hope he has a long and productive career at the next level. We were very fortunate that he came to UA and I believe he felt it was the best move for him to showcase his abilities that would help him get to the NBA as quickly as possible. I think he made the right decision as I don't believe being at Kansas would have showcased him or put him in the same light as our style of play did. Again, wish him nothing but it is now time to focus on the next team and the next set of players or potential players.
