Trooper`s Magic??

Has anyone ever heard of a major university requiring that a new, incoming head coach be shackled with assistants from the previous regime? May have happened but I can`t recall. If indeed that occurs, one is limited only by one`s imagination as to how and why that would occur. The only way, IMHO, that they turn it around is to clean house, fork over a ton of bucks, and give somebody the keys to the whole shootin` match. Needless to say, a stunningly dramatic departure in culture for the "fambly"![/QUOTE]

that's like asking the Sun to stop shining!!

UT required Dooley to keep some staff. That's why Cutcliff turned them down to stay at Duke.

interesting. most thought he would wind up at TAMU.
IF Troopa and Looper stay, they will CONTINUE to keep au in the crosshair of the NCAA.

and the Auburn Police Dept.

This has the makings of Dye all over it. As long as Dye, I mean Jacobs, is in charge nothing much will change no matter the coach.

Word around here in Muscle Shoals today is Liner is Bama's if CNS wants him. I guess we will see.

The vibe I've gotten here (on Tidefans) the last few days is that it is already a done deal.

I have been getting some weird info about this since there is a likelihood of Auburn cleaning house. If true it may have backfired. Supposedly Foster early and Liner later were supposed to be both playing Alabama as some sort of reprisal for Kouandjo, Calloway and Yeldon. If true there was supposed to be a third recruit that was going to pull a signing day switch that fell through and was a Trooper setup fun job.

Personally I doubt it, but the people spewing this still think both Foster and Liner are solid to Auburn not matter what happens and are usually right about who is really committed to Auburn. However, with their season falling apart this has gone into a tailspin.

Trooper was a walk on special teams star at Baylor. We loved the way he played the game. It seems Baylor has never had a spot for him on the coaching staff. Maybe we are learning why.

For what it's worth, Finebaum just said that from people he knows that are in the know, there is little to no chance that Trooper is retained and that he "couldn't imagine him (Taylor) coming back." Luper, on the other hand, may be a different story.

With Gus in place, does Trooper have a shot at OC? I know he interviewed for it last year.

Lord, we can only hope so. It`d be like Christmas come early! The main problem with Troopah is that he appears to have some sort of Svengali- like effect on recruits. I guess his hipster, shuck and jive approach appeals to some kids (?).

If he keeps them on staff and IF he were to promote one it would be Looper to OC. However Gus isnt stupid and will bring in his own OC. I'm not even sure that Gus is to fond of those two.

And if they are the reason the Barn is being investigated by the NCAA which many believe, the Barn will want to and should cut ties with them. You don't keep a coach who possibly puts you on probation.

We're talking about Auburn, here.

They wouldn't want to get rid or them, but they should.

Pat Dye got them on probation and he still resides there.....
