I was watching SEC TV last night "that chanel 31 at 8:30 Cowan TN" {that's where I live}" but anyways the brodcast people said that Troy State was trting to enter the SEC. Should they be allowed, If they were to get in would they be a good team. Could they become a huge rival for BAMA, Auburn, Tennessee, even Georgia. I think that might be kind of cool.

I'm not sure the SEC is ready to expand, just because Troy is trying to get in.If the SEC expands, there would have to be 2 teams invited, not sure there are 2 teams available that would be a good fit.
Just my thoughts.
:biga2:

Never happen. We would take Southern Miss before Troy. Troy being in the SEC only hurts Alabama and API since we are in essence proping up an in state rival school.

Alabama and Auburn do not want Troy in the SEC. Just like Miss St. and OleMiss do not want Southern Miss in the SEC. Just like Tennessee and Vandy do not want Memphis in the SEC. Three is a crowd!

Too many influencial people in this state to let that happen.

I admire Troy's willingness to play bigger schools but let's face it, most people around the country have never heard of Troy. The SEC isn't about to let a no name school into the conference. Sorry, but it just isn't going to happen.

Let me remind yall that when Troy came into the 1A program they only lost two games there first year, Those games were to Miama and Nebraska, they both ranked in the top five at that time though "note- lost to Nebraska by only 3 and Miami by 14"
Gtranted Troy might not get in but I think they would do a lot better than a lot of people think. "off the subject did'nt South Mississippi, beat Miss.State, and Ole Miss this year."

A little research indicates

Wouldn't they have to do something about their fan base and stadium first?

They just rennovated "Movie Gallery Stadium" from a 17,000 to 30,000 capacity. That was a big move on their part but a far cry from the capacity to host BAMA, au, LSU and the likes of Ga and Fla. Oh they would enjoy SEC revenue but what could they offer?

Naw!!!

Don't let Troy in, let UWA, THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA. After all I used to teach school in Livingston and I proposed to my wife there 15 years ago. Okay, want another reason. Someone from there once told me that years ago the Livingston State freshman football beat the Bama freshman team. Quick, somebody get Commisioner Slive on the phone!!!!

Troy to the C-USA seems like the next step for them. How Troy can beat Missouri and Marshall and lose to New Mexico State and Arkansas State is beyond me, but they've got a ways to go before competing against SEC competition on a weekly basis. They should have beaten LSU this year, and a few offensive balls bouncing the other way and they beat South Carolina. Troy had an SEC type defense this year, no doubt, with a defensive end that might be a first round pick in the draft, but will Troy ever compete for those skilled offensive players. Right now that answer is no. But they can beat Memphis and UAB consistently.
