IMHO, I think we hear an apology from Jimmy tonight as well as some heartfelt words of sympathy for Charlie's family and (maybe) supporters.

To me, that would be the best outcome for him, regardless of any 'political angles'.

I hope this happens.

(editing my earlier post as follows):

I think we'll see 3 things from Jimmy tonight.

1) An apology - which might include a comment "setting the record straight" on the incorrect stuff he said about MAGA and the shooter.

2) A denouncement of any form of violence in politics.

3) And some words of sympathy to Charlie's family - and maybe praise for his accomplishments.

This would be taking the high road and I would like to see him take it, myself.

We have too much negativity in our political culture right now. Anything that takes the temperature down a notch is OK by me....

I dont remember who sang it but the adage that you dont dance on another man's grave or tug on superman's cape is sage advice for anyone...
jim croce sang "you don't tug on superman's cape, you don't spit in the wind, you don't pull the mask off the old lone ranger and you don't cover up the epstein files"

there he goes being a first amendment absolutist again

Nothing to worry about. I’m sure we’ll hear (though Trump’s actions are something that they don’t approve of) that the ratings stink and/or that Biden/Obama did something similar, so it’s not really a big deal. After all, Trump’s only making threats. Where’s the proof that he’s actually done anything?

He had nothing to apologize for. He made a joke about a bumbling President, and that's not something that's really unique.

The Legion Of Karens blew this up because it was all about politics.

JD Vance: "On the free speech conversation, I'm pretty sure Jimmy Kimmel was back on the air last night, and to the extent he's not back on the air it's because he's not funny and has terrible ratings. This is not a federal government problem ... the FCC commissioner made a joke on social media."

Lying is second nature to the Trump Administration: "... the FCC commissioner made a joke on social media."

#1 We must have watched two different clips. I thought this was about the Charlie Kirk assassination comments. Not the POTUS.

That aside......in my mind he did apologize but in his own way. Which is fine with me and I suspect most others.

I think his opening monologue was just fine and addressed what was needed

#2 People apologize for things all the time that they don't NEED to. They do so for a number of reasons. An effort to deescalate things, they just want to move on, or maybe they just want to take the high road - regardless of all the arguments for or against.

I've done it on this very forum before. (looking me over).....hmmm....didn't seem to take too much of a toll! :)

#3 "Legion of Karens"......ha ha good one! Amazing how offended people get sometimes! :D

Ratings and not being funny or not had nothing to do with Nexstar and Sinclair refusing to air Kimmel. Vance is lying again.
