I see President Bonespurs couldn't believe it when Biden appointed Powell as Fed Chair.

Spoiler alert - Trump appointed Powell in 2018.

Are we still concerned about the mental health of the elderly or is that just so 2024 ?

I don't disagree with you, either with your points or (probably) regarding Trump.

The problem in his particular case is that he just LIES so much and GASLIGHTS so much that he's sorta protected now from being thought to be a nursing home patient. After all, did he forget or was he just lying and trying the only tactic he knows, insulting people? I'm serious - are you really 100% SURE he FORGOT or was he just trying to blame something on Biden?

Furthermore, let me add two points since this has become a common theme on this board:

1) The issue was NOT "Biden forgets things", not in isolation.

The problem was NEVER "Biden forgot X."

The problem was:
- September 2022 - asked a representative killed in a car wreck if she was present, invited her family to the White House as a mea culpa and then took them on an interesting tour of the space between two doors.
- May 2023 - stumbled over a sandbag at the Air Force Academy commencement
- June 2023 - at a fundraiser, Biden's face locks (McConnell style)
- Feb 2024 - a special prosecutor (Robert Hur) refuses to prosecute Biden because he's mentally incompetent, after he couldn't remember when his son died OR the years he was VP
- June 10, 2024 - Biden freezes at a Juneteenth meeting
- June 15, 2024 - Obama has to take Biden by the hand at a fundraiser and lead him (which is what led that greatest ever political consultant George Clooney to demand his withdrawal)
- Biden looked like a ghost at the June 27 debate with Trump and ambled like a nursing home patient to the stage
- Biden claimed nobody in the military died under him, "forgetting" Afghanistan apparently
- said "every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with Covid" (WTH?)
- said "we finally beat Medicare"

I'm sorry, but you folks trying to draw an equivalence AT THIS POINT (maybe not later) are barking up the wrong tree. My list isn't even exhaustive.

2) Who's gonna believe the biased press now anyway?

So...NOW that it's a REPUBLICAN President......the press needs to be all on it, right? "You see, we failed you on Biden but here's Trump being the same way" isn't gonna work.

You protect your credibility BEFORE you lose it, not try to regain it when your shamelessness has been exposed for everyone to see.

=================

Again, I don't disagree with you in the abstract. Trump SHOULD NOT be President, and he never should have been elected a second time after January 6th. But "he's as baked as Biden" isn't going to fly. Biden never went on the same rants he was going on ten years ago about Alphonse Capone, etc.

Trump still has enough energy to whine if nothing else.

I think the problem with Trump is that what we are seeing isn't because of a decline.

US set to destroy 500 tons of taxpayer-funded emergency food
The high-energy, nutrient-dense biscuits have been sitting for months in a warehouse in Dubai, according to a former USAID official.

Now, because they expire this month, they will have to be destroyed – at an extra $100,000 charge to the American taxpayers.

The former official, who spoke anonymously to discuss the details, said the destruction of the critically needed food would not have happened prior to the Trump administration’s destruction of the US Agency for International Development.

Based on past history of the sycophants, a week from now we wont hear another word about Epstein and we will have moved on, with no resolution, to something else. :(
It appears - based on at least a few things - that MAYBE (I hesitate).....maybe he's finally found the line he cannot cross with this. It may depend, as I read yesterday, on whether it's true that "just because talk show hosts are talking about something (in this case Trump's support imploding) doesn't mean the average person is" or not.

The GOP needs to do what the Democrats did not do: throw their leader overboard and put their VP in place to attempt the party rebuild. Release the files, take the hit. If Trump's name isn't on this "list," he's in the clear forever. If it is, you can start your "law and order" rebuild and make an example of him.

And no, folks, the base isn't going to stay home and they aren't going to vote for Democrat X in 2028 out of spite. Vance MIGHT - I say might - gain more than he would lose with the swing voters.

The problem, of course, is that they've been handed course correction instruments many times and they always cower at the Orange Ape who literally has never been tough about anything.

I’d take Hugh Freeze winning a National Championship over this any day.

If Trump is on a list and he may be I don't know, and no one is taking my calls at the DOJ, why wasn't that information given during the Biden administration? That would sink him in my opinion. It doesn't make any sense to hold on to that.

I'll go full conspiracy theory and wonder if there is a list who else is on it that would cause them to not go after Trump? I know how that sounds, but I've got a little conspiracy theorist blood in me that I try to keep under control.

Maybe because Bill Clinton is on it, too? Or that it might blowback onto Hunter or someone else?

What's funny is there's a veneer in this question when it's asked by most (no reflection on you) that Trump is some victim of political persecution blah blah blah. He isn't. He's a whiny little witch, a toddler with a title, the poster child for why birth control should be covered by health plans.

Besides - if 34 felonies don't sink a guy....

Trump's narcissism again prevails.

It's just as fair of me to ask:
- why didn't Trump release it earlier when he was President last time?
- why did the Attorney General claim something was on her desk she now claims didn't exist?

See, we can both draw conclusions from rhetorical arguments but that doesn't prove either one.

But let's be honest, who has more to "not lose" by hiding it, Biden or Trump?

Trump since nobody thinks Biden went to Epstein Island, a subject Trump has talked about over and over and over and over again. Which kinda suggests it's an obsession with him.....

The big potential problem is that MAGA was built on grievance beginning with Obama's birth certificate. All of his supporters have been motivated by a continuous diet of Hunter's laptop, Hillary's and other Democrat's child trafficking ring and of course the Epstein files. What he is attempting to do is to take away a key grievance from his trained followers. He is putting himself in a tight spot!

We will see where it goes but one thing is for sure they will never vote democratic.

I think it's a case of mutually-assured destruction. Epstein had a lot of friends, both Democrat and Republican.

This is not even close to being a conspiracy theory; it's common sense and observation. And since both sides (DRINK!) are full of sanctimonious skid-marks, it should come as no surprise that everyone is calling for the release of this spreadsheet of dates/times/customer name that does and does not exist. I shall call this phenomenon Schrödinger's Perv List.
