You always come across as a thoughtful guy, but putting that though in our heads just seems kind of cruel.Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. What if Tua stays and cannot play?

I keep reading everyone saying that if Tua stays then Mac leaves. It just makes me think of this year - Tua stays, Jalen leaves, then Tua gets hurt. Except next year, no Mac. No QB in his 3rd year in the system. You always come across as a thoughtful guy, but putting that though in our heads just seems kind of cruel.
And kind of on flip side, if Jalen stayed, real possibility Bama does not drop to Auburn and Jalen is playing on a team with legit title shot, OK is not legit title contender. So Bama needs to keep Mac.I keep reading everyone saying that if Tua stays then Mac leaves. It just makes me think of this year - Tua stays, Jalen leaves, then Tua gets hurt. Next year, if Tua stays you really need Mac to stay. Otherwise the dropoff will be HUGE.
I don't know if it would be huge. I think if Tua leaves Mac will really have to be sharp to hold off Young. Yes, Mac would have experience with the system but Tua stepped in on the biggest stage as a freshman with little experience and got the job done. Fields transferred to Ohio State and didn't have any problem learning OSU's system. I think a really good coach changes the system to fit the QB rather than force the QB to change to fit the system.I keep reading everyone saying that if Tua stays then Mac leaves. You think that of Young, but you don't know it. My point is that you have had known quantities as backups for a few years. Next year you probably won't. If Tua stays, he needs to protect himself, for himself and the team.I don't know if it would be huge. I think if Tua leaves Mac will really have to be sharp to hold off Young. Nothing against Mac, but there will be too many young guys with more potential. A lot of teams would love to have Mac.If Tua returns, Mac will transfer.
Outside of Bryce Young (who may very well need some time when he gets here), I'm not sure we can definitively say there's another QB on our roster who has more potential than Mac. Like everyone else, I would love for Tua to come back. But losing Mac would be a big loss.Nothing against Mac, but there will be too many young guys with more potential. Unless you have some insight into the practices and such, I don’t know how you can make that assumption.Outside of Bryce Young (who may very well need some time when he gets here), I'm not sure we can definitively say there's another QB on our roster who has more potential than Mac. We've got people making assumptions that a HS quarterback who has yet to play a down of FBS football will probably beat out Mac Jones next season. A "Mac Jones" that has proven he can compete on the FBS level and perform at a high level in big games. So why not let everyone assume away?Unless you have some insight into the practices and such, I don’t know how you can make that assumption.
Most of it is because he is very comparable to Tua in highschool in making reads, and accurate throws that the typical high school stud doesn't, and the fact that Lia hasn't really pushed Mac for the #2 spot.Unless you have some insight into the practices and such, I don’t know how you can make that assumption.
Some of you have a kid that hasnt even signed yet already starting over Mac.
I could probably go back through the years and find threads about QBs who were going to do that to QBs who were already here. Seems to be a common thought. We've got people making assumptions that a HS quarterback who has yet to play a down of FBS football will probably beat out Mac Jones next season.
