UAB coaching change

ESPN is reporting that Sullivan is headed to Samford as well.

Sullivan to Samford

As a Samford grad, I think Sullivan is a great hire. Not a good fit for what UAB needs, but a very nice fit for the Bulldogs.

IMO, UAB should be looking for a young, hungry coach who recruits very well and can put an exciting product on the field. You can't sell facilities or tradition - so you better find other ways to get guys believing they can be part of something special...

Or pursue a guy with ties to the state like Patrick Nix at Ga. Tech, who's already expressed interest in the Tulane job...

Finebaum said that it was a done deal for Sullivan to be the coach at UAB right until the last minute when Watson Brown stabbed him in the back. Finebaum then went on a tirade on how Watson Brown is a fraud and the UAB president is an idiot. Looks like UAB once again has screwed something up.

I have very close ties to UAB. In poking around I've been told that Watson Brown told some "influential people" that he "didn't feel that Sullivan was the man for the job" as he twisted the knife in Pat's back. Brown is wanting to keep his coaching salary while doing the AD job. If things don't go the way he wants them to (Neuheisel) Brown may be wearing two hats again next fall. I think you are about to see UAB athletics fall flat of their face because of Watson Brown. At this point, Garrison will have to be replaced to rid UAB of Watson Brown. Wanna talk about a lovefest there. Garrison is insert-twist with Watson Brown and UAB football. (I'm not insinuating anything inappropriate between them either!)
