UT Game 2.

It's a final, Bama wins 4-2.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that gives us the 8th seed in the tournament. Since LSU is also going to win, we can't overtake them for 7th. Florida beat SC again tonight and will get the 1 seed. Let me correct myself, if we win tomorrow and LSU were to lose, we could get the 7 seed.

Good win tonight, no pressure tomorrow.

Wow! The team has really turned it up to another level the last couple of weeks. The bats have certainly been more consistent, but the key has been the dominance of Nelson and the emergence of Kilcrease to the starting rotation. If we can find a more consistent 3rd starter, we could be a dangerous team in the post season. It's great to beat the Vols (again), great to be Hoover bound, and great to be locked into a Regional. rtr

I prefer the Tide "are". Anyway, good game. I'm on the way back to T-town after watching two games in Knoxville.

Well, good old CK here was stove up with a kidney stone at the hospital getting it busted up with lithotripsy. But dang it I just woke up at 2 A.M. and checked cause that is how I role! Now, who called it 2 weeks ago and said we would make it? I need to pull that thread back up!!!! Have faith my friends #7 or #8 it don't matter we are there and we are in both sets of playoffs now. WOO HOO...can someone pass me a beer to help get these fragments out now? :)

Speedy recovery to you, CK. I had flashbacks of 2006 where we needed Georgia to take care of Kentucky in order for us to have a shot at the SEC title. Well, it happened again last night under different circumstances.

Side note : Georgia had 22 hits in the game. All singles.

Thanks DT, gonna take more than a 7mm kidney stone to take me down (yea right :) ) Glad to see the boys from UGA could help us out. Now we need to win 1 more and get some help from MSU.

All singles, that is absolutely awesome. Talk about having to string together some hits!

I wish someone would explain to Mick Gillispie that "Tide" is singular. As in one big Tide. If the team was made up of a collection of individual ones, they would be the "Crimson Tides."

Drives me up the wall the way he says "the Tide are leading"

Thank goodness I'm not the ONLY one! It's a collective singular, much like "team".

Just curious what you meant by that?

OK. Let's pause for a brief lesson in grammar.

If the team were called "The Red Elephants", we would say the Red Elephants are leading...., because while each of them are members of a team, they are individually known as a "Red Elephant".
Since the team name is "Crimson Tide", not "Tides", where the singular team is emphasized more than the individuals who comprise it, they are still individual members of the same team. Therefore we say "The Crimson Tide are leading....."
I know it's difficult to understand, but I'm sure you'll learn more when you get into high school..
