Vandy and Georgia Fight

I really like Coach Franklin. He is gonna be a good one and it won't be long before a big program steals him away from Vandy.

Got mixed feelings about this whole thing myself. Sure, Grantham seems to be a bit of a loose cannon and the incident looks bad on him. But I think Vandy and Franklin have to be a little careful about how much they play up the "we're not going to take it just because we're Vandy" angle on things. It will get old to people quickly, especially other teams and coaches. Just play hard, coach hard, recruit hard, and you'll get the respect you deserve from it eventually if you stay the course. No need to make melodramatic statements in your press conference about how "those days are over" and all that nonsense.

I'll also say this. I know UGA has been an undisciplined mess in general the last few years, but I saw our own players getting pretty chippy with the Vandy guys quite a bit last week and for good reason on several plays. Let's just say I saw the Vandy guys playing to the very last echo of the whistle on a lot of plays. Didn't watch the UGA-Vandy game that close to make the same assessment, but maybe they are doing some things that rub the other team the wrong way a bit. There's nothing wrong with being aggressive and scrappy, they just better be careful that it doesn't cross the line to dirty play. Acting like a stepchild and taking cheap shots is *U's M.O. and I hope Vandy doesn't adopt that type of persona.

The thing I like about Franklin is that he refuses to play the victim card with Vandy. When he recruits, he doesn't allow for the high academic standards to be a issue as to why players shouldn't go to Vandy. He recruits them by saying that is the very reason you should go to Vandy.

Franklin is a hell of a coach. That guy is going places.

I think Franklin is trying to establish a culture of toughness and resilliancy. I really think Grantham is a hothead who is not setting a good example for the kids. If Richt doesn't get rid of him or at least tone him down, there will be fights, lots more personal fouls, and total lack of control. UGA has some good momentum right now. No need to blow it up from arrogant, tactless asst. coaches.
I bet Vandy remembers this game and beats UGA next year. I do like the fact that Franklin addressed the fan crowd situation. He wants more support from the Vandy nation. Hopefully he earns it.

I don't usually watch Barn games or Gawga games but when these two meet I have got to see it.

Thug vs Thugs

Gonna be like a real street fight, may set a record for personal fouls in the history of CFB..

A very hard-fought, emotional game that featured multiple personal foul penalties ended with a skirmish between the two sides instead of the normal handshakes. Specifically, Vanderbilt coach James Franklin and Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham got into a battle of words while other coaches reportedly had to separate players from fighting.

The details of the situation are still pretty fuzzy right now, and Grantham was rather vague in his response to the skirmish.

“I love our players. I’m going to stick up for my players and everybody’s competitive,” Grantham said repeatedly. If you’d like to see a very, very rough (and slow motion) video of the incident.

Grantham is a proven hothead.
UGA is undisciplined.
Every Vandy game i have seen any of this year has been "chippy".

Franklin says all the "right stuff".
If I continue to see Franklins teams always pushing shoving, mouthing, and late hitting; I will rank him among along with June Jones, Tubberville, CheezWHIZZ, Bobby Bowden, Micky Andrews, Houston Nutt, Bobby Petrino and the likes as dirty coaches.

This just can't be. Mark Richt is such a fine, well mannered, caring, giving, nurturing, christian man so above all the rest of us that this just can't be true. He runs one of the most undisciplined and unsportsman like programs that I've seen since the glory days of Miami's thugs teams. The only thing Richt hasn't had is a real hardcore felon on his team, but give him time. It has always and continues to make me sick everytime the discussion of Richt and his holy ways comes up. He's yet to show one thing in all his days as GA coaxh to support any of the accolades he receives.

This type behavior is nothing new for GA. I remember when Dooley was coach they were known for punching and eye gouging at the bottom of the pile. Always a classless University.

I remember that in HS. I always thought it was just part of the game. :)

Grantham is an embarassment. I would be very upset if I saw Kirby Smart, Coach Cochran, etc... doing something like that. It's totally out of line. What a loser. Also can you imagine how Coach Saban would deal with this. Mark Richt will probably ask Grantham very nicely " please don't do that again". Just like you would a child. Heck, even Richt's comment almost makes an excuse for Grantham's behavior.

I think James Franlkin is changing the culture there and doing as good a job as can be done for a first year coach at Vanderbilt. I like his attitude and the way he handles himself.

Grantham shouldn't go balistic. Upshaw shouldn't have kicked that player. I seem to remember Ingram at South Carolina getting a little chippy too. I think the cut blocking they are doing is getting on people's nerves. Some of this is starting to add up.

what makes you believe Richt is a Good Guy?
I think it goes back a few years ago when a lot of UGA people were saying they'd rather have a strong upstanding man of faith, class, and morals like Richt than a win-at-all-costs oversigning mercenary like Saban.
