It’s going to be hard to convince some Americans that elections are secure when leaders constantly claim fraud whenever they lose. The reality is that our elections are already remarkably secure and reliable.
I’m all for reasonable safeguards to prevent ineligible people from voting, but those conditions shouldn’t make it easier for some Americans than others to exercise their constitutional right. That’s the concern with the SAVE Act. If the government requires documentation to vote, it needs to make sure every eligible citizen can reasonably obtain it without unnecessary barriers.
Show me proof, real facts, not just hot air from Trump, that noncitizens voting in federal elections is a major problem in this country and I'll listen to the right's ideas.
The simple fact is that there is no massive problem with noncitizens voting in federal elections. The number of cases found would not come close to flipping any race, ever. The cases found are also prosecuted, so it seems the current laws are working just fine.
The right is proposing a solution to a problem that does not exist because they have all bought into the lies Trump spews. They have thrown reality out the window because our toddler president is still throwing a temper tantrum for losing the 2020 election. Get over it already. He lost fair and square.
It is a fact that elections in this country are the most secure, safest, and fairest in the world. Anyone, or any outlet, claiming otherwise is spreading the real fake news the right loves to whine about all the time.
Again, all you Trump supporters have to do is provide real, definitive proof that there is a massive problem with illegal voting, and I would completely change my tune. It is that simple, just show me. I'm willing to change my mind on this subject when presented with the facts to support your claims.
That's it, come on, show me.
If it is as massive a problem as you guys claim, there should be plenty of verifiable evidence.
Heightened scrutiny has targeted the integrity of election processes, particularly regarding noncitizen participation in U.S. elections. We address four frequently asked questions concerning noncitizens voting in American elections.
Ohio Sec. of State Frank LaRose has referred 641 cases of suspected voter fraud since taking office. Of those, 521 are allegations of a noncitizen voting. But an OCJ review found just one case in which a noncitizen was actually charged with voter fraud.

Oh, so it has to be a ‘massive problem’ before we address fraudulent voting? I’ve never claimed it to be a massive problem, but if it’s happening, it’s a problem. And it’s easily addressable.
I just want to make sure voting is as secure as possible. Doesn’t seem like a stretch.

I have mentioned multiple times on this board that my father received a mail-in ballot. He has been dead since January 1998. My mother, being a responsible and honest person, reported this and they promised it would not happen again. This got me thinking that maybe not everyone is as honest as my mom. I wonder just how many dead people voted. I am not saying which way the votes went, but I am saying there are horrible dishonest people that could possibly use this to get their guy elected. It is probably a lot more than anyone wants to admit.
Nope, most rational Americans want all citizens to be able to legally vote. It's those with ulterior motives who see only one path to that, regardless of the unnecessary hardships it will place on some of their fellow citizens.

Yet neither party is trying to directly address the issue.
The left constantly pushes for making voting easier - even if it means illegal voting increases. Your tweet above is the perfect example of it - it would have been as simple as showing a utility bill to register to vote, that's ludicrous.
The SAVE act isn't perfect, but it's the best chance we've had in some time to actually insure those voting are legal voters. Those pushing back on it likely haven't read it - it's less onerous than the REAL ID requirements with ways those lacking the required documents can still get registered.

Again, show me real proof that this is more than a rare problem, not just speculation.
I can show you link after link after link that voter fraud in this country is rare, and already illegal.
We don't need new laws to solve a voting fraud problem that doesn't exist.
Man, I sound like the gun folks. "We don't need more gun laws; the current ones are enough." I tell you what, I'll sign off on your stupid restrictive voting laws if you sign off on my stupid restrictive gun laws.
MAGA has built all this on the claim that there is so much fraud going on that Trump would have won in 2020 if we just had more secure elections.
Our elections are secure.
Those who believe otherwise are believing the lies.

So you think I am lying or my mom lied to me or this was completely random and only happened to my mom? Go ahead and spell it out for me, I am curious.
I no problem with making sure people are legal voters but I do have a problem with unnecessarily restraint our right to vote. In a modern democracy voting should easy and convenient.
I doubt that many dead people "voted". The people who would consider doing this already know the odds of affecting the outcome of election almost nil and certainly not worth the embarrassment and punishment coming their way. The whole system is structured that only stupid people do this.
What's more likely is government intimidation suppressing voter turnout or steering votes toward a particular candidate. Precisely what we have now.

I am of the belief that the day should be a holiday. Now personally I have never worked in a place that didn't allow you to come in late or leave early to vote. Even in architecture school, they let us leave studio early. studio was 1-5 every day, plus some people worked.

By that standard, owning a gun should be easy and convenient. Except it isn't, nor should it be. I think most of us here agree that violent felons and the mentally ill should not be allowed to have guns. In fact, I'm good with prohibiting gun ownership until basic competency and safety are proven. Can't pass the test? Sorry, no gun for you. Maybe next year.
Voting should have the exact same standards. I would argue that a ballot in the hands of a moron is more dangerous than a gun in the hands of a felon. Can't pass a basic civics exam? Welp, sucks to be you. Go home and educate yourself.
“This is a problem of legal aliens,” said one expert, referring to people who are in the country legally but who are not citizens, such as those with work permits and visas. That number was a…

Trump: "You go to California, they send out like 38 million ballots. Some Democrats get 7, 8 ballots. Republicans are a lot of times calling in, 'Where's my ballot? Where's my ballot?' They're lucky to get one."
Such nonsense, yet the gullible will believe it and those with ulterior motives will repeat it.
Really? So the Trump voters aren't, in fact, going to ultimately be responsible for the downfall of the republic? Can it be that all this talk about the "death of duh-moooocracy" was a bunch of hyperbolic horsecrap all this time? Well! I did not see this coming! I guess I have to rescind my statement.
