I am having to travel to London tonight and will be over there for the Duke game. I have an ESPN3 subscription but I'm not sure if I can get the US content over there.... Any ideas on SUREFIRE ways I can get the video? I'm prepared to settle for the audio but would love to be able to see the game as well.... Thanks!

Probably no sure fire methods - if ESPN3 doesn't let you connect there (though I bet they do, assuming your account is 'US based').

Not that you're asking for this, but there will be no discussion of illegal methods of watching the game allowed on TideFans.

If you contact ESPN3 they will provide you with websites to access the games. I asked them with respect to EPL soccer games, but I don't see why they won't work for college football.

I am sure there is a sports bar somewhere in London that will carry the game. Be about 8:30 p.m. kick off. Concierge in your hotel should know if not some ex-pats.

Just for the record, I contacted ESPN (didn't even know that was possible before this) and they said that if the IP address originates from outside the US there is no access to ESPN3.

Super fun.

Guess I'm limited to radio (at least for the purposes of this message thread).

Thanks to everyone for the help though - at least now I know what NOT to count on!!!

I had this issue last year as I had some trips to London that could not be avoided. I doubt if the Duke game will be on TV there, but Bodean's BBQ Bodean's BBQ Restaurants in London is big on American football. And yes, there is BBQ in London. I also watched a Cowboys game while having dinner in the bar at the Texas Embassy in Trafalgar Square Texas Embassy Cantina - London

Keep in mind London has a metro population of 12 million. You can pretty much find whatever you want there, provided you look hard enough....

Thanks!! I've hit the Embassy before during b'ball season but hadn't heard of Bodean's. I will be right by their Fulham location so that might work. Thanks for the tip!

ESPN3 is your best bet for watching Bama games online in Europe. I'm currently in Spain and that's what we've had to do. It's not too bad, only 15 euros per month. The only problem is you don't have access to all the games that are available on ESPN3 in the US.

And I believe there's a London alumni chapter, so you may want to check that out.

I was in Germany for the SJSU game and can confirm you do not get ESPN3 in Europe. You can pay like 10-15 Euros for a basket of games, with no guarantees they will have the game you want. SJSU was not included, so I could not get it. I ended up going to a link for Justintv or some other site that was streaming ESPN3 from the USA. I was able to watch for 15-20 second increments before the feed cut off because of bandwith limitations outside the USA, but I was able to keep reloading it and I got to watch most of the first 3 quarters before the feed died completely.

In the future, your best bet might be a Slingbox.

Just to clarify, you CAN get ESPN3 in Europe. It's the same website but it caters more toward sports Europeans will watch. There is a college football section on ESPN3 in Europe which costs 15 euros per month. The playlist for European ESPN3 is not the same as the list in the States, but you can get a lot of good games each week.
