Week 6: Alabama @ Texas A&M

I wonder.....if the boys get told that if they lose they'll have to do those weird Aggie cheers.....if they'd win by 40.

Don't. It's not for opposing fans, and you'll just be angered at the old fashioned hokiness and poking fun at your team that you love.

Haha... Fair enough. As I mentioned, I realize to outsiders, it's weird. And yes, the "fables" are sporting jokes about the other team. But what's funny about it, even the crowd of 40,000 or so Aggies attending know the jokes will be stupid (it's kind of tradition that the Yell Leader's "fables" are hard to listen to...). But some opponent fans find it interesting as just general fans of college football traditions and pageantry. I can confirm there's usually not a lot of opponent fans in the wings (maybe a couple hundred compared to 40K).

I've been out of college long enough to get why fans from other schools find our traditions really strange. But they really all do have a "history" that explains why they came to be (generally all stemming from the early 1900s and from the military college days).

I'll be staying around Houston with my brother and drive in that morning. So that's a pass for me.

I assume you mean your brother lives in Houston, so he probably knows the routes. But if not, avoid Highway 6 and 290 intersection at about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before kick otherwise you be stuck in a line of cars making that turn north. It still moves, but will easily add 1/2 hour to your drive in. For 2:30 PM kick, if passing through there 11 AM or earlier, you should be fine. Other route is up through Tomball - highway 249. It's a recently opened, nice tollway.
