I looked up this author and his work is intriguing. Seems to be cut from the Ludlum/Forsyte cloth.

I enjoy his works - read all of the Cotton Malone series. He takes a historical event and injects a "what if" or conspiracy that has come to light in the present. At the end, Berry has a chapter separating fact from fiction. Interesting stuff.

That book, though 10 years old, is outstanding...he answers the question of how Western Civilization won the economic/cultural battle against the East and Middle East from 1500 -- 2000.
