What are you reading right now (II)?

Have you read the Alistair MacLean novels? Most who like Clive Cussler really enjoy those.
Read the Navarones back in the mid sixties, and Ice Station Zebra, nothing since. It's been a while, obviously, so maybe it's time to get back into his books. I have seen most all of the screen adaptations. Thanks reminding me of his writings.

Haven't read any of his books. They were published before my time. I have seen several of his movies.
The books, as is generally the case, are markedly better than the movies, and the movies were pretty good (and attracted very good actors). Give one a shot the next time you are looking for something on par with Cussler.

I’m listening to Shogun by James Clavell. I’m going to have to get the book because it’s taking so long. Audible says I have over 40 hours of listening left and I think I’m about a quarter through the book. However, the narrator is excellent. He does credible accents of Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch. He also uses recognizable voices for each character, male and female, and there are a whole lot of characters in this book. Excellent book.

I haven't visited this thread in a while.

It's a good time for reading. ..is there a bad time?

"250 WPM (words per minute)" is said to be the average readers speed, "achieved by the 6th grade"

"For success in college you should be able to read 350 to 450 words per minute"

I consider myself to be a slow reader, pausing to think about a passage and sometimes rereading a sentence or paragraph.
