What Bowl Game Will We Get

Capital one or cotton is my guess. As a positive, we were in the capital one after our last loss to the barn and we curb-stomped MSU and then went on to 2 national titles. I'm hoping we have the same response to this loss to the barn.

We would probably draw a better opponent in the Cap One than if we went to the Sugar.

I'd be willing to bet money that we go to a BCS game. We're in the same position as Florida was last year... Can't play in the seccg, but should get a bid over the loser of that game (whoever it is).

The difference is that the winner of the SECCG won't go to the BCSCG. Cap One/Citrus it is.

I don't know how many times it has to be said that you can have 2 teams in the conference in the BCS. I'll break it down for everyone one more time.

The winner of the SECCG will go to the sugar Bowl if they do not play for it all no matter what. Other SEC teams are eligible for an at large bid as long as they meet the win/rank requirements. (only one other sec team can play in the BCS)

For reference: take a look at last year (Oregon and Stanford). Both are in the PAC 12. Both played in the BCS. Neither went to the NCG. Please stop giving false info.

You are not out of the BCSCG hunt. You need Mizzou to lose tonight, USCe to beat Auburn and FSU or Ohio State to lose in their championship games.
Don't see all that coming together and happening...and even if it did, there is no way the voters put us in the BCSNCG.

Not to be greedy, but... The BCS Championship. I'm willing to bet on it.

I looked ahead with an unbiased attitude, and I just think that's how it's going to end up.
We'll see next Sunday.

And how many times have we walked through who would be chose for the one or two at large bids?

At-large Eligibility
If there are fewer than 10 automatic qualifiers, then the bowls will select at-large participants to fill the remaining berths. An at-large team is any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible and meets the following requirements:

  • A. Has won at least nine regular-season games, and
  • B. Is among the top 14 teams in the final BCS Standings.
No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.
If fewer than 10 teams are eligible for selection, then the Bowls can select as an at-large team any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible, has won at least nine regular-season games and is among the top 18 teams in the final BCS Standings subject to the two-team limit noted above and also subject to the following:

  • 1) if any conference has two or more teams in the top 14, then two of those teams must be selected and
  • (2) from the teams ranked 15-18, a bowl can select only a team from a conference that has fewer than two teams in the top 14.
If expansion of the pool to 18 teams does not result in 10 teams eligible for selection, then the pool shall be expanded by blocks of 4 teams until 10 eligible teams are available subject to the two-team limit noted above and also subject to the following: (1) if any conference has two or more teams in the top 14, then two of those teams must be selected and (2) from the teams ranked 15 or lower, a bowl can select only a team from a conference that has fewer than two teams in the top 14.
Relative to the two preceding paragraphs, all teams ranked in the top 14, other than those from conferences which have already had two teams selected, must be included in the bowl selections.
Note: in order to participate in a BCS Bowl game, a team

  • (a) must be eligible for post-season play under the rules of the NCAA and, if it not an independent, under the rules of its conference and
  • (b) must not have imposed sanctions upon itself prohibiting participation in a post-season game for infractions of the rules of the NCAA or the rules of its conference. ****I think it would be unfair Alabama to booted to a lower bowl game when you have Standford & Oregon 9-2 to a BCS AT-large? How is that fair? We lose one & go to to a Cotton Bowl or Capital One? We will be in the top 5 in the AP poll & BCS Standings. What I am reading is that it say's NO MORE THAN 2 in a conference. Well who ever win the SEC Championships will be 1 & Alabama #2.

If we catch a few breaks, we could still have a shot at playing for the NCG. If A&M beats Mizzou tonight, South Carolina upsets Auburn in the SECCG, and Sparty knocks off Ohio State, we might just be playing FSU for all the marbles. There's still a lot of Football left!

I don't really care what bowl game we play. I just want our players to get a chance to redeem themselves and get some additional prep time for 2014. And I look forward to the 2014 Iron Bowl.
