What position do we need most for 09'

Okay, now after the number 1 class has been signed and we are awaiting to see who is in and who is out, what position players do we need? We can always look at the OL and DL as post. of need with number of players at those two areas, but what would help us most in 09'? Have at it, and I hope we can meet the need, in CNS we trust!?!

QB, TE, OL, DE, LB, and S are the ones that stick out most to me right now. A lot more will be known once we know which signees from our past class make it in and where they're going to wind up playing, as well as possible position changes we may have between now and the end of fall camp with our current players. As well as whatever attrition we have.

Yeah, I was thinking about another good player to come right in to play FS, plus we still need help at rush DE. Two S at TE and still yet the good old QB ? hey really good teams like Not Dame sign two or three top QB's so lets do the same this year. LB, with CNS system is always a need with 4 LBs on the field at the same time. The only ? on the LB area is if teams go to the spread we might need more DBs!?! My concern is Tackle on the O we need about four and only have one that should play L/RG in the NFL, AS. I guess we can know more with the new Freshman with Love and others if they can play on the OL and RT, one can only wish that we can get a couple of O tackles.

:conf2:confused!!

We always need 1 QB in each class; but as far as basic needs go, we desperately need at least 2 TEs (this could change depending on whether some from the '08 class play TE rather than DE, like M. Williams). Our top two TEs graduate, Hoke was moved to OL, and I think Peek will only have 1 eligible year after this season. If we get some of hte '08 class to play TE, the next biggest position of need is probably DB (both safety and corner spots). I think AL and MB will be great, but until they get on campus and prove it, the secondary is a weak spot.

I'd like to see us take a few top linemen on both sides of the ball and a big, bruising runningback that could just pound it between the tackles about 30 to 40 carries a game if necessary.

If Corey Smith can't impress his way into the mix at punter, I'd like to get a guy that can put it, on average, about 45 yards downfield and be able to drop it inside the 3 when he's inside of the 50.

We have a few needs, some more so than other. We do need several more offensive linemen, some great pass rushers on defense, another safety or two, plus we need to lock up the quarterback position.

However, I would like to point out that we don't really have any one "need" over the other. We aren't particularly deep anywhere, and we could use some top-notch talent at every single position all across the board.

More than anything else, we just need to sign the absolute best of the best regardless of position.

I believe the OL should be our number 1 priority. The interior OL particularly. Specifically, I would like to see us get at least two fairly prototypical guards (Uzzi types) and one center assuming quality recruits at these positions are available. These plus at least one quality tackle and preferably two should provide some depth for 2010 & 2011.
We have recruited several prospective pass rushers at DE. Hopefully at least one will stand out this fall. If not, the two best pass rushers we can find at either DE or LB would be my second priority.

If those needs are met, maybe we can afford to just selectively cherry pick the best athletes or position players we can get.
