I noticed that Florida just announced their basketball schedule for the upcoming season. Has our schedule been finalized yet?:BigA:

Typically, Bama releases the schedule around Labor Day.

Some of the non-conference schedule is known -

SEC-Big East Challenge:
Georgetown (12/5) in B'ham (double-header with Aub vs W. Va.)

@ Texas A&M (TBA) begins 2 yr home & home
Clemson (TBA) begins 2 yr home & home
George Washington (TBA) begins 2 yr home & home

Las Vegas Tourney:
Wofford (12/17) in T-town
UT-Pan American (12/19) in T-town
Missouri State in Las Vegas (12/22)
TBD in Las Vegas (12/23)

Last I heard, CMG was looking for one more major-conference opponent for a 2 yr home & home (willing to start the series on the road)

Typically Alabama is one of the last SEC teams to release its schedule because Coach Gottfried usually engages in discussions with strong non-conference opponents up until the last minute. It will be interesting to see if he can swing an additional big non-conference opponent to what already appears to be a stout schedule.

i would love to see bama play syracuse

I wouldn't hold your breath on them playing at MSG anytime soon. They have done that scene and I really don't see them coming back.

a couple more:

02-09 2008 Sat at Kentucky 1:00 p.m. (LF)
02-16 2008 Sat at South Carolina 1:00 p.m

Odd that we're playing at Mercer. I remember we opened at Davidson several years ago. Anyone have an idea why an away game was scheduled w/ Mercer?

Mercer is in Macon, Ga which is close to Irwinton (home of freshman Senario Hillman) and Swainsboro (home of 2008 commit Tony Mitchell).

Ah, thank you. That make's sense. This was one of Dean Smith's scheduling philosophies at UNC. That's how we got the home game with UNC in '89.

I've noticed Gottfried follows a lot of what Smith did. CMG, like Smith, also schedules teams with different styles to get ready for tournaments.

I really like how these teams schedule games near the players hometown. I remember UNC going to play in Cleveland for Jawad Williams. Really random.

Maybe so but I think this has more to do with CMG trying to add another true road game before the conference season. We went to Alabama State a couple years ago when we were unable to add another big name opponent. It should also be noted that road wins are multiplied by 1.4 in the RPI formula.
