Question: Where does the program go from here?

Re: Players returning and recruiting

Hope you are referring to Saban figuring it out. Just don’t want UA to become UT when CNS departs. Perish the thought!!!
My apology if I offended anyone.
You did not offend. The PP meant that the thread title was not a clear match with the first post or the conversation which followed.

After a tough loss, we always get a slew of new posters who want to come in and be negative right off the bat.....and it's off-putting. When people come in and at least give us a history as a Bama fan....and blend is one thing. But to come in and start off on the negative gets many people wondering if the intentions aren't good.

Re: Players returning and recruiting

The players “sitting out” Bowl game will have a major impact on recruiting.Roll Tide!!!
What is your logic for this conclusion? I personally don't see how a handful of players headed for The League sitting out a bowl game is going to change how a recruit feels about coming to play for the Tide. Plus, we're not going to be the only top team that does not make the playoffs with players choosing to skip their bowl game.

Re: Players returning and recruiting

I'm not sure how it might affect recruiting, but if I was Tua, I'd sit this one out.

Yep, as in Moooooooo...which I am not entirely sure that is not the case here. I mean, upupbama :rolleye2:

Re: Players returning and recruiting

It is not my intention to be negative. I’ve been a UA fan for 69 years. I sat in the rain in north end zone at Legion Field and saw Stabler score to beat AU in mid 60’s...in the mid. Was in student section for the ‘72 AU game...that was not fun! Never miss a game.
Just interested to learn what other fans are thinking, regardless of post loss or win.
My intention is to consider the possibilities and realities of UA after a difficult and needless loss. Especially with so much riding on the outcome.
I imagine we Tide fans may be a bit sensitive after Saturday. Did not mean to offend.

To paraphrase, you asked if it was time to fire Saban, and if not, when - or did I miss something?

Re: Players returning and recruiting

I also asked if changes to coaching staff my be on order. How may that have impact on recruiting? CNS will step away at some point.
I hope it is no time soon and imagine the decision will be on his terms...as it should be.
Had UA gone 12-0, this would have been the best coaching job ever. CNS and staff had no players on defense to consistently work with from weeK to week. But, all teams play by the same rules and everyone has injuries and player defections.
No Tua and an injured Tua was a significant loss. Maybe just a perfect storm.
It doesn’t change my loyalty to UA. Just wondering about thoughts for future.
I hate losing to anything orange!!

Still not buying it..... but I admire the sales effort being put forth....

Re: Players returning and recruiting

Not trying to sell anything. Just interested in other opinions for future after 2 losses. We haven’t been in this position in a long time and there is much Bama fatigue in the media. Hope it does not harm recruiting and/or attracting great coaches.
Roll Tide!!!

Re: Players returning and recruiting

We are not turning into Tennessee once Coach Saban retires. That would take a lot of effort to make happen. We're a 10-2 program if left on auto-pilot. It took Les Miles about 8 years to coast LSU to mediocrity. Surely we can do better than Les Miles whenever the time comes.

But the most surefire way to make certain we don't do any better when the time comes - and I'm NOT saying that we're behaving that way now - is for the fans to act like spoiled children when we don't win 5 NCs in 9 years. Show all future coaches that only 12-0 will be accepted, and you're setting yourself up for a B-level hire at best.

I guess what I'm saying is, the sky is still hanging in the heavens.

Re: Players returning and recruiting

As a noted, world class Eeyore I am trying to figure out where all these doom and gloomers are coming from. Are there problems, certainly, will they be fixed most likely, but a 10-2 season is not the end of the freaking world, folks. With the exception of LSU and UGA how many other SEC teams would sell their collective souls to be 10-2 with Nick Saban as its head coach. I really believe the main reason I no longer enjoy going to Alabama games is having to listen to the bellyaching from some of our delusional fans, and there are unfortunately, quite a few on Tidefans as well. Get over it and move on.

There are a whole bunch of posters on here I have never seen before. They picked a weird time to join or suddenly start posting.

Re: Players returning and recruiting

RB group - Assuming Najee leaves, you have 2 guys named Robinson who are 100% ready to play, and Ford is very good. Trey Sanders was truly gifted in HS. Can't wait to see him play. Recruit Roydell Williams looks legit - can run and catch - not likely to play in 2020.

Folks are going to be pleasantly surprised with Roydell. The kid can play. I’ll take a hard nosed kid from Hueytown any day.

Re: Players returning and recruiting

We had two 5*'s defensive players who left the program before the season started. The transfer portal has changed the way players perceive their chances of playing immediately at other programs. Not sure why they departed. With all the injuries, that was costly because it hinders depth at certain positions.
Three of the 4 first round wr will "likely" be gone after this year. Najee "may" come back. No proven RB with much experience after him. My comment was about "recruiting" of RB's, not who is currently on roster.
I hope you guys are correct and CNS stays and figures it out....but, I have ???'s
It is a challenging standard, at best! Our expectations are very high with good reason. It's incredible to me that I feel like we failed after a 10-2 record. Jaded??? For sure!!
You are a troll and you are gone...

Hmmmmm....joined yesterday or today, and already lobbing hand grenades.

One of three things is true:

(1) You’re prone to hyperbole, overstating the degree if imperfection of this year’s football team, and overly concerned about what talking heads say. Or...

(2) You think the posters on the board are stupid, can’t read through thin veiling, and will buy your line. Or...

(3) Both.

Whatever the situation, please present some credible, data-based arguments. If you can’t do that, go back to your Lee County / Baton Rouge / Athens home board.

He's gone Shelby. His claimed fanhood years didn't even begin to match up with his birthdate. I actually had suspicions about the username when he applied...
