Thanks I have heard him for a while. How long has he been going that job?....That would be Mr. Tony Giles.
Meet him a few months back, good guy.
I thanked him for what he does.
Patterson also recognized long time public address announcer Tony Giles, “The Voice of the Crimson Tide” with the Pat Huet President’s Award. Giles has been the PA announcer for Alabama’s home meets for 15 years...
Me too. I would love to have him do a message on my answering machine...I love his voice.
Couldn't agree more. "Ladie and gentlemen...the Alabama....Crimson Tide".i must respectfully disagree. simpson pepper was the greatest. he was the john forney of stadium announcers! he could provide my 2 favorite words with unparalled eloquence,"Touchdown Alabama"!
It seems that our timeouts are full of nothing but advertising--something which is probably beyond Tony's control.I wish Tony would give us more updates of other games over the PA. For example, when Awbun got "Croomed" my Miss St. and we played Georgia later in the day he never gave the war chicken score. Last year against Ole Sis, when Vandy beat Georgia he never announced the score either. On both occasions I told the guys sitting next to me that when they announce the score over the PA, BDS is going to go crazy. The PA announcement never came though. That is pathetic! When your chief rival is losing or has lost, take advantage by getting your crowd fired up! Last night in Baton Rouge when the PA announcer told the crowd that USC lost to Stanford 24-23, the place went bananas. You know good and well that got the LSU players more fired up, as evidenced by their 4th quarter rally. Please give us the scores in BDS!
Simpson Pepper was great -- and is still announcing HS games at Legion Field, and serving as an administrator at a private school in Birmingham -- but I do understand the move.i must respectfully disagree. simpson pepper was the greatest. he was the john forney of stadium announcers! he could provide my 2 favorite words with unparalled eloquence,"Touchdown Alabama"!
you're probably right re; mr. pepper, ahhhh nostalgia!True. I loved Pepper in his day, but I do understand the move. Right now, I've gotten hooked into the Fox re-broadcast of the game, hoping we'd look better. We don't. Why should the rebroadcast of a PPV game look so much better than the original...?
