Bryce isn't my absolute personal favorite. (probably in my top 3-5)... and Bryce was no good.
Bryce is the reason we did as well as we did the past two seasons. Heisman trophy, SEC title, NC game appearance. Not too shabby. If not for injuries he at least wins 1 NC instead of UGA, if not 2. This in spite of poor coaching.Bryce isn't my absolute personal favorite. (probably in my top 3-5)
but the idea that he wasn't any good blows my mind. (I know you're not the one who said that Tidewater i get the reference).
He is probably the best out of all of them in terms of pure QB ability.
My thing with Bryce is I'll always associate him with two Alabama teams that I just have difficulty rewatching. Which is not in any way his fault. I know that is not fair. But it just is what it is.
I agree. Like i said, Its not fair and its not his fault.Bryce is the reason we did as well as we did the past two seasons. Heisman trophy, SEC title, NC game appearance. Not too shabby. If not for injuries he at least wins 1 NC instead of UGA, if not 2. This in spite of poor coaching.
I got news for Al.com….none of the 3 are seasoned.![]()
What are Ty Simpson’s strengths and weaknesses in Alabama's QB battle?
Here's why Ty Simpson will or won't win Alabama's quarterback competition.www.al.com
Writers gotta write something. They will cherry pick quotes from pressers and create entire articles about stuff we already know.I got news for Al.com, none of the 3 are seasoned.
more or less he tries too much to impress and falls into quicksand with mistakes.Has Simpson had a confidence issue?
In my view the quarterback position is a blend of natural talent and confidence. I’ve seen those that make the most of their talent (which may not be A+ talent) but they have the confidence to pull it off. Then there are those who have the supreme talent but never have the confidence to make it translate to live action. I will take the guy in the first category who plays within himself all day long over the guy who has the talent but can’t get it done.more or less he tries too much to impress and falls into quicksand with mistakes.
Simpson is probably going to be a D1 quarterback but I’m starting to have serious doubts it’s at Alabama. Things could change on Saturday but given that this will be his 4th closed scrimmage and he has had 3 that range from horrible to mediocre it’s kinda to the point that it’s “Are you ever going to be the guy?”
I asked because Saban mentioned it when talking about Simpson.more or less he tries too much to impress and falls into quicksand with mistakes.

I see your point, but also see a major difference. This really is starting to feel like 2016 to me.
I'm not saying Lonergan is going to win the job. But the talk around the QB battle just feels really similar.
No one was really expecting Jalen Hurts to be the guy leading up to the USC but then suddenly he got his chance and the rest is history. And many were trying to temper expectations that he would get a chance to be the guy. Now there are rumors that not only has Lonergan gotten some snaps with the 1s and 2s but that he maybe even moved the ball against the 1st team D.
Idk. I still think it's probably a long shot but it does feel similar.
Yea definitely fair. I think it's very much a long shot. I am curious if he jumps anyone though. I wouldn't be surprised to hear if he's 3rd string at the very least at some pointI see your point, but also see a major difference.
At kickoff of the 2016 USCw game, Jalen was second string. When Barnett faltered, he was next man up.
This year, Lonergan is the 4th most experienced QB. For him to play any meaningful snaps early, we'd have to have multiple injuries and/or disastrous performances.
Who he gets reps with on Saturday will be interesting. Given there are so many attendees at the scrimmage that it's almost public, it could also be a smokescreen.
