I think that Milroe has the most talent and the lowest floor.

I get it; he doesn't have much experience, but; that 5.6 yards per attempt still frightens me. A lot.

I kind of think Milroe will start and maybe be the guy all season long at this point.

There are so many mixed reports on Buchner and Ty but most of them don't give me a ton of confidence.

Lonergan might have an outside shot but he'd have to learn a lot of the playbook quickly to have a real shot I'd think. That said one of the teams he was choosing between was Stanford 🤷‍♂️

Well… my thinking is, if the Oline turns out to be a bunch of road pavers, we may not see any games with 30+ pass attempts. I know CNS likes balance on offense (who doesn’t?), but if they are running up and down the field against seven in the box, passes will likely mostly come when they stack and whoever is at QB has to perform, period. They will have a short leash.
If Bama’s running game is as good as it looks like it could be, and if they can successfully throw when the defense sells out to stop the run, they should not lose a game. Unless Steele turns out to be the Clemson version and not the Barn version, defense should be better than it’s been in a while.
Bama will only have 3 QB’s on the roster by mid season, unless they all flounder and I don’t see that happening. I’m not sure anyone would RS even though that would be ideal, because it’s very possible both freshmen leave and that would not be good. They are all loaded with the “P” word, but if it’s not put on display at least in part within a couple of weeks, they’ll have a decision to make.

I think Lonergan will be in the running for starter next year if what they are saying on other message boards is true about how impressive he has been so far. With Sayin coming in enrolling in January, he and Lonergan will be the 2 best. If Jalen Milroe is on track to graduate this year (not sure if he is, but I have read he is very bright) and has a decent season, he may go pro. If he loses the job, he may transfer. Anthony Richardson was just named the starter for the Colts and he only played one season, and was just average.

The scrimmage Saturday will be interesting. I hope someone on here gives us details if they are going to it. :)

There are so many conflicting reports that I take them with a grain of salt..............

Here is a take from a famous insider

Thinking back over all the QB battles through the years, I don't recall one with so many differing opinions. Just over the last week I've spoken with former Alabama players and with former coaches (not including internet QB gurus), some with NFL backgrounds, and I've received varying responses on the current QB race.

Last week one told me that Tyler Buchner protected the ball and managed the offense best. Another said that Ty Simpson was having the best practices. Others said that Jalen Milroe clearly had the best scrimmage and was the one taking on the leadership role best.

This morning I got a message from a former longtime NFL player that said that Milroe has looked good, but that that was mostly due to "being put in advantageous situations set up for him to have success." The source went on to say that Ty has had very good practices but for whatever reason didn't carry it to the scrimmage.

Bottom line: It sounds like Milroe has a slight edge headed down the stretch of camp, and I do think that Milroe is most likely to start to the Middle Tennessee game. But a big scrimmage is coming up.

With that said, I spoke to another very respected source this morning who said that the one thing that has jumped out to him about the team in camp is that the practices are much more physical than they've been the last few years. The source said that this has the look of a very physical team.

I remember Mac Jones first start, it was ugly but you could see the potential. I say that because I think to much negativity is being put on Milroe because of the A&M game. He had BoB calling plays, even Bryce looked bad at times running his offense. If he’s the guy I think he’ll surprise a lot of us.

Mac looked great for the most part. I don't think Milroe flashed the same stuff as a passer. BUT he is a great runner and if his passing catches up a bit he'll be a good QB for us.

He might have been talking about the Tennessee game after Tua was injured the first time. He looked pretty shaky. His first actual start the week after against arky I was blown away.

some Alabama fans were still like “well as long as he can throw some screens and throw to a running back he will be fine. I was just thinking. “This kid can do more than that”

I remember watching Mac in relief in 2018 and thinking he would never play a meaningful down at Alabama. Obviously, I don't know the first thing about QB evaluations, but he didn't look very good either at the time.

Mac made some horrendous INT’s against Auburn. It took me sometime to trust him but this is a result of us being fans and not being in practice everyday to see the development.

I had a thought yesterday that it is a possibility that the defense these QBs are practicing against could be the best defense they see all regular season.
