Simpson should be QB1. Milroe definitely talented, but Simpson more the pure QB who will eventually have more consistency.

It's a small thing, but I noticed during second half warm ups how much more consistent Simpson's ball placement was than Milroe's.

Milroe is scary good running the ball.
His passing in inconsistent. The last TD drive, he was pretty good. On other drives, Milroe missed open guys, or threw the ball behind the receiver.
I walked beside Blake Sims' mom after the A-Day when Blake did not play very well. I told her, "Better days are coming." And they were.
I do not count Milroe out just yet, but he does need to become a more consistent passer to win the starting job, I should think.

Sorry to say Milroe isn't able to get on top of the ball and follow through effectively. It will take considerable work before he can put the ball on target in critical third and long situations. This is why fans are fans and Nick Saban is the GOAT.

No way Saban brings in an unproven QB who might or might not be available. And if he is, it’s only because he’s whining about his NIL deal. Then Saban is going to start him over Milroe and Simpson (who have their own NIL deals) and who have 3 and 2 years in the system, respectively??

Please. My two cats could come up with a more plausible set of circumstances.

If they’re trashing UTw fans about calling Arch Manning a bust after 4 months on campus, and following it up with this garbage, I feel sorry for these guys.

Meh, we are in The Doldrums (the period between the end of A-Day and the beginning of fall camp). What else do we have to talk about?
One thing I am extremely confident in is that the player who gives the team the best chance to win will start in September.

But really it's not. If a QB at the major college level can't consistently hit a receiver in stride with no rush/pressure in warm-ups it's predictive that he probably can't do it during live competition.

That's been my biggest doubt with JM. He looks like an athlete trying to play QB. Strong as an ox, but just not natural and smooth and sometimes even awkward.

I watched the game. Milroe made some great throws, especially on his last touchdown drive, but he was inconsistent. That is a problem and I suspect Coach Saban will see it as a problem.
Still, the jury is still out. The young man has got all summer to work on consistency.

He looked OK. Lonergan definitely looked farther along than him. He threw a bad duck that he was lucky enough to be a completion, and threw a bad pick in what might have been a miscommunication with the WR on if he was supposed to be blocking or not. And he also had some good short to mid range completions. But just from watching the spring game I’d say he is definitely #4 at the moment.

I really believe DL could be the guy. He had the best QB rating and did not even play with the first team. I went back and watched his high school highlights and I can really see him as a starter. I just hope CNS won't stick with a guy just due to seniority.

I am pulling for Milroe because his running instincts make him a threat on every play, but right now he is worse than Hurts was in his TF year. More importantly, he is worse than at least 2 other QBs in that room. He could become great. He might have already hit his peak. No idea.

I've been pulling for Milroe to improve his progressions and consistency because his legs could be such a weapon if he makes a defense have to respect the pass, but I'm not seeing it so far, and he has a lot of time in the program at this point.

I think Simpson is the guy with Lonergan coming in if he doesn't work out. I wish it was different, but it's not and I agree both guys can get us where we need to be.

Eli seemed nervous to me. At least at first he did. Not as "ready" as I thought he'd be. Nothing more reps and time won't cure.

Maybe, but at least a couple of the drops looked to me like it was because on a 10 yard pass he was throwing it hard enough to blow a hole in the side of a barn.

That’s why I said earlier that his throws reminded me of Freddie Kitchens.

B1GTide really nailed it. The interception of Ty by Earl Little may have been the best catch of the day by anyone out there. Yes, Ty could have put more "air" on the ball but Earl made a fantastic play. That interception didn't really bother me. The interception that Jalen threw from the end zone to midfield that was picked by Kristian Story was egregious. You can't do that. That must have made Coach Saban and Coach Rees shake their heads in disbelief. A player with 3 years in the system can't make that big an error in judgement. As for the 2 freshmen, I thought Eli looked a little unprepared. Maybe "deer in the headlights?" He'll get better. As for Dylan, I was very pleasantly surprised, in fact elated with his performance. This kid has been on campus for 4 months and he plays baseball too? Imagine what he will be with a full summer of prep under his belt.

Maybe Dylan has the coveted #12 for a reason!

I liked what I saw from the QB's. No way Coach Saban goes to the portal to search for another QB. That would send a horrible message to the 4 guys we have here now. We'll be fine. Lots of work required this summer but someone will emerge from the 4. That's what we're paying Coach Rees to do, find that guy to lead our offense. RTR
