Hey Guys, first time post, long time lurker. I noticed on rolltide.com's participation chart that Wilson Love played in the NCG. If so, that would burn his redshirt for this year. He is not at a position of need or had not moved ahead of someone that I am aware. Is that a misprint or did anyone see him play? If he played, what do you think that means for him? RTR

Love was rated as a five star recruit and never seemed to crack the rotation which I am sure has been a disappointment for him being so highly touted. He already has a medical redshirt so it probably didn't mater as he will be a senior next year regardless.

If he plays next year, which I have not heard any differently, maybe he can hold a 2nd string position that plays. Sometimes we just shift people around when someone is injured.

You are thinking of Tyler Love....Wilson's older brother.

Believe you are talking about Tyler Love. Wilson Love is Tyler's younger brother.

Not Tyler. Wilson is Tyler's younger brother. He is a true freshman and had not played a snap this year until Monday night if he played. He is listed as a DL.

That's brotherly love...

A sidebar question, not to stop an answer to the original question.

Isn't there some kind of rule concerning the Bowl game and eligibility that differs from the regular season? It seems like a couple of years ago that it was suggested so and so could play because the game won't effect his eligibility.

Maybe it was players that were having to sit out a year for transfer were eligible as they were already losing a year.

He did greyshirt, I believe, which makes him a true freshman. To my knowledge, the rules for eligibility apply to the season, not the calendar year, so it would cost him a year of eligibility if he played.

Not sure if he played or not, I never saw him in there... but if he did, I'm sure he didn't mind. I'd gladly give up a year of eligibility to play in and win a National Championship.

can't always trust the participation chart 100%. For example, if you look at the defensive starters for the NCG, we only started 10 guys (21 total instead of 22). They don't have Barron as starting. I haven't gone back to look if he did play the first play, but somewhere there is a miss, because i don't think we'd have only sent 10 on the field the first play without Saban blowing a gasket and us all knowing about it

We may have had an invisible guy in their backfield to knock the snap out of Jefferson's hands.

Hey there!!!!! That's Tyler!!!!

Couldn't resist the dog pile. ;)

Haven't actually looked, but it's possible he wears the same number as someone else and they simply put down the wrong person associated with that number.

Edit: Just looked it up, he wears the same number as Carson Tinker, so it is possible it was just a slip up.

That's a very high probability since the Birmingham News stat section had Will Lowery punting twice (wears #29 along with Mandell also) and Mandell punting 1 time.
