No, I disagree that there was any misunderstanding. An official is an official, period. What it shows is a continued pattern of a lack of respect for the rules. You see a striped shirt, you know it's an official, and you know not to touch them. And if they are standing over the ball, keeping play from starting, you don't have the authority to shove them out of the way. And frankly I don't care if he was acting in ignorance. I don't get to get out of a ticket if I'm speeding but I didn't know what the speed limit was.
