Winston pushing referee before the snap

No, I disagree that there was any misunderstanding. An official is an official, period. What it shows is a continued pattern of a lack of respect for the rules. You see a striped shirt, you know it's an official, and you know not to touch them. And if they are standing over the ball, keeping play from starting, you don't have the authority to shove them out of the way. And frankly I don't care if he was acting in ignorance. I don't get to get out of a ticket if I'm speeding but I didn't know what the speed limit was.

There should have been a penalty at the least, and an ejection was warranted.
 
Two things:

As for rooting for or against FSU. I am almost of the opinion that I want them to meet us in the playoff. I want to see our D pound him into oblivion. It wouldn't hurt my feelings too bad if Florida did the pounding though.
As for DK's statement that the announcers didn't say anything. he needs to watch the replay.
 
I suspect the official was caught off guard by the whole incident and officials as a group have no intention of tolerating being handled by players. I also feel pretty sure this is the last time Jameis will try to get away with pushing an official. I don't like Jimbo, but he's smart enough to know he's poking and prodding where he shouldn't be.

Danny Kanell is an idiot, and a liability to ESPN's credibility (whatever exists of it).

The whole thing about Tebow is that he never behaved either on the field or off of it like Winston has. And hey, I'll go ahead and say it. If it had been Tebow, he would have been flagged and probably ejected. I mean I can make that claim just as well as Kanell can make his, right?

Danny was all worked up leading up to those comments, because a couple of sources said that Winston should have been kicked out of the game. So, when the co-host tosses it over to Danny, she says something along the lines of "I want Danny Kanell the expert, not Danny Kanell the Seminole", basically calling him out for being a homer and of course he acted like she and everyone else expected.

The twits on ESPN's final verdict echoed the ESPN line that "he was just being a competitor." He was "boxing out" like "a center under the net in basketball." The Florida alum actually had the stones to say, "the ref was wrong" to stop Rapist Winston from snapping the ball, since BC had already had an opportunity to sub defensive players. I guess the instant all the sub'ed defensive players touch the turf, this moron feels the offensive should be allowed to snap the ball.
The public opinion poll, on the other hand, showed 69% felt he should have been ejected.

Tebow would have grabbed the ref's flag to penalize himself.
 
A lot of media types are backing up Winston, calling it "incidental contact" or blaming the ref for being in the way. The whole thing has become nauseating to me. It seems like a pretty black and white issue to me. You never put your hands on a referee, period. Being a competitive person is not an excuse nor is the referee being in the wrong spot. If the referees are huddled talking about a flag and they tell the players to stay back, would it be ok for a "competitor" to shove a ref out of the way and barge into their huddle? What he did showed a pure lack of respect for an authority figure, plain and simple. I can imagine that Jimbo has been on the end of that disrespect from Winston a few times behind the scenes, but has been too spineless to do anything about it.

Exactly! Doesn't matter whether the official was out of position or not. You do not put your shoulder into him and shove him out of the way.

The ejection is mandatory with the penalty. Just like targeting.
 
I suspect one day Mr. Winston will try that with a cop and the result will not be as he expects. He has not experienced the same boundaries most of us do and he will not know how to behave in the world outside of Tallahassee.
