Your window on the world? - Part 1

Is that white PVC pipe I see in the middle of the photo? It really came out nice...especially the hydroseeding.....congrats from an old turfgrass manager! :)
Bazza …correct. It is the syphon system to control water level of the pond. Made from 8 inch schedule 40 pvc. Full pool will be near top of the syphon. When it reaches that point, the syphon will pull water from the bottom and empty it on the backside.
Many ponds will use a vertical stack or spillway to control water. These pull the water from the top of pond. The top layers of the pond in general is where the “healthiest” water is in terms of oxygen, and nutrients. The syphon helps keep “healthier” water in the pond by pulling from the bottom. Plus, if I need to, I can drain the pond via the syphon.

I hydroseeded with winter rye and fescue combination. I did that to control erosion through the winter. I’m going to either over sow or plug with centipede or Bermuda this spring.

This morning I drove over to Deland to look at - and possible buy - another motorcycle that was advertised in FBMP. It's a 1980 Honda Express. 50cc and built like a moped. Ended up not buying it because the starting mechanism was not operational as originally designed from the factory. It's a really interesting feature of the bike and one of the things I really liked about it. Deland is the county seat here with a lot of history and interesting buildings downtown.

This is one of them......the Museum of Art........

For about 8 years I attended the Stetson Pastor's School in Deland -- loved going there as we played golf every day!! The old Holiday Inn had the largest rooms I have ever seen in a hotel of that level. There's also a really good steak house in Deland -- The Deland Stockyard. Worth a visit...

On my way back home this morning after a visit with Mom and waiting for the North draw bridge to close....some sailing vessels headed south...somewhat photo bombed by the fishing dude at the bottom whose pants are hanging down and briefs showing......

Waiting for the light in traffic today and snapped this photo of the new flowers planted in the SR44 business district median. The business you see there is our Chipolte (used to be our Burger King).

The red flowers are Dianthus and the silvery is Dusty Miller - used for it's foliage...not it's flower.

I remember hearing somewhere the bedding plant philosophy "No flower bed is complete without Dusty Miller".

I understand the point they are trying to make......that they do a great job of providing a nice contrast in both color and form....but I've seen plenty of gorgeous flower beds withOUT Dusty Miller! ;)
