you obviously didnt know that virginia tech has the most experienced offensive line of any BCS school. we have 100 starts on the oline. yall have less than 50. even thought Darren Evans is lost for the season, he closes one door and opens 5. ryan williams and david wilson are going to punch yall in the mouth. NOW i will say that yalls defense is next to amazing... but tyrod taylor traditionally plays best against GOOD defenses. he was the MVP of the ACC champ game against a VERY good BC defensive who was better than yalls for this this year. they had Raji, Brace, Herzlich and others who matches up to yalls. we also have 295 pould TE/QB Greg Boone who is SO underrated and we will use him against yall at QB. also our special teams is going to play a huge factor.
True on the oline experience, however, 2 players from that oline make up 60 of those starts. The rest of the projected oline combines for around 13 starts still a lot more than Bama's line, but a little less deceptive than your post.

Also, Tyrod Taylor's passing stats against BC: 1st game - 12/27 90yds. 0 td 1 int. 2nd game - 11/19 84 yds. 0 td 1 int. He rushed for good yardage: 110 yds. 0 td in 1st game, 30 yds 2 tds in 2nd game.

Tyrod did well rushing against BC, but sorry if I'm not cowering in fear!

"I'm really not a disciplined running back," Williams said. "I run my way. I've had coaches who have tried to teach me how to do this, do that. And I just can't do it. At first, it didn't sit well with Coach Hite at all. He's constantly [saying], 'Hammer the hole, hammer the hole. Hammer, hammer, hammer.' He wants to see contact non-stop. I didn't listen to him that much. I try not to make the contact. I try to make the people miss.

You should probably read the board rules on smack talk.
If you don't, your time here will be short.

While BC had a good defense last year, it wasn't near as good as Bama's. If you look at the defensive rankings, BC's Defense is close to Bama's and actually higher ranked in Passing Defense. However, you have to take into account the offenses they faced.

BC's Defensive Stats:
Rushing D: 91.21 ypg
Passing D: 176.93 ypg
Total D: 268.14 ypg
Scoring D: 18.36 ppg

Bama's Defensive Stats:
Rushing D:74.14 ypg
Passing D: 189.36 ypg
Total D: 263.50 ypg
Scoring D: 14.29 ppg

So, Bama leads in 3 categories, BC in 1. Incidentally Bama leads in the two most important categories as far as the Va Tech game is concerned: Rushing Defense and Scoring Defense. If Va Tech wants to win this game, they have to run the ball and put up points, whether on offense or special teams.

Now, let's take the opposing offenses into account.

First, BC:
BC's opponents averaged per game:
148.50 yards rushing
175.62 yards passing
324.12 total yards
23.28 points

This means that compared to what their opponents averaged, against them BC gave up per game:
57.29 fewer yards rushing
1.31 MORE yards passing
55.98 fewer total yards
4.92 fewer points

Now, Bama:
Bama's opponents averaged per game:
148.64 yards rushing
204.66 yards passing
353.33 total yards
25.53 points

This means that compared to what their opponents averaged, against them Bama gave up per game:
74.50 fewer yards rushing
15.30 fewer yards passing
89.83 fewer total yards
11.24 fewer points

Bottom line is that while BC had a good defense, Bama's defense held their opponents below their offensive averages noticably more than BC's defense did.

This is very evident in the game stats for the only opponent we had in common last year, Clemson.

BC held Clemson to:
87 yards rushing,
252 yards passing,
339 total yards, and
27 points
while losing to Clemson.

Bama held Clemson to:
0 yards rushing,
188 yards passing,
188 total yards, and
10 points
while blowing out Clemson.

Yes, Boston College had a good defense last year. Bama had a great defense last year. When you compare the two side by side, it's not really that close.

The board does not tolerate this type of smack talk.
The young man will have to mind his manners or find someplace else to talk smack.
The mods do a great job on taking care of the smack talk on both sides. They will take care of any problems.

That's not a very smart statement. Can you imagine what his coach did when he read that?

Hmmm... 100 starts with an OL giving up 30+ sacks. Sounds very good for Bama. You can be beaten by experience - even when it's your own. :) We'll see how 2016 does. If he can calm down and talk FB, he can stay around. IF not, well...

That's a very good point. Giving up that many sacks is not quite the experience I want our line to have.

great stats and comparison!! btw, the 10 points by Clemson, 7 came from a kick off return. they did not score a TD on our defense.

even more impressive!

VT2016 needs to recognize this is SEC football not ACC, first! Second uafan4life great job on the stats. Last the game with VaTech is going to be a great one, I think we will win, but it's going to be closer than we expect. Beamer will have them boys ready to play. I just can't wait.:BigA:

If he is scared to get hit then he may never make it off the sideline. Rolando, I gurantee you, will hit hard and hit him often. Not a place for a rb that doesn't like contact.

I don't believe he said he was scared to get hit. He just said he prefers to avoid contact as opposed to rb's (Darren Evans) who prefer to power their way through. Think about it...if you avoid contact, you don't get tackled. Ryan Williams is a tough kid, but he has the ability to make people miss so that's what he prefers to do.

I don't know what to think about this. Could it all be orchestrated by Beamer? I mean, the team photo set, now their starting running back is not disciplined... Maybe they are just trying to put our team asleep, convincing that they are not taking this game seriously.

I wouldn't be surprised if Evans shows up to the game healthy ...

I am pumped about this first game, but we are going to have to see what happens. We are going to have to worry about TT, but on the other hand maybe not. They have had to do a bit of shuffling around on the o-line to accomodate for the loss of certain players from last year. If it stands true that they start off struggling on offense, then we should have no problem, but we have got to show up to play, and not play around.

I wouldn't come down too hard one a RB who hates getting hit. Our very own Shaun Alexander hated getting hit. He was so fluid and shifty that he made people miss all the time. Getting hard licks in the NFL probably hastened the end of his career. He was quick enough in college to avoid those big hits, but his age eventually caught up with him.
