To clarify my irritation .... Bob Davie picking Texas or Bama means no difference to me. But, the guy's job is to add color commentary. FAIL! You don't add any value to a conversation by saying one player will win the championship for his team because he is "motivated." Bob Davie does not deserve his paycheck.

He's actually originally from Pennsylvania. He is a Youngstown State graduate, but did spend nine years at Texas A & M as an assistant coach.

Wasn't this the same reasoning people gave for picking Florida in the SEC Championship game? No real break down of why they picked Florida. Just a "Tebow wills them to victory" suggestion.

Well if Bob Davie's picking Texas sounds like that is another reason that the Tide will win. That would be like Gary Danielson repeating how tough UF is in the redzone for the first three quarters of the SECCG. Since when do ND QBs know anything about football?

That actually makes me feel better. He's hands-down the worst color analyst working today. It amazes me how he keeps climbing the ladder at ESPN. Listening to Mike Patrick fawn over him like a wide-eyed schoolgirl during the TTU-Michigan State game just about made me sick.

Not only does Davie have all the linguistic skills of Les Miles after ingesting a blister pack of horse tranquilizers, he's pretty much like the FedEx "French Benefits" guy -- he is consistently wrong about pretty much everything. About the only thing he can do is find a Cover 2 alignment on tape. Listen to him for about 5 minutes and it becomes readily clear why he didn't make it at Notre Dame.

To be fair, it's not quite as ridiculous of a notion with Tebow. That was essentially the 4th quarter last season's SECCG.
