How Bama will defend Cam Newton

I'm not worried in the least. I saw a hapless MSU defense do a pretty good job against the barn offense and Newton. A good defense will destroy the barn's O and their QB. Newton looked mediocre at best.
Great post! My thoughts exactly!

If Newton continues running as much as he is and trying to run over people, he won't be playing when they come to T-town. If he is lucky enough to make it to T-town Mr. Dareus, Mr. Hightower and Mr. Barron will make sure he won't finish the game.

he may be the best QB that these eyes have seen. maybe the best aubie athelete since BJackson.

it will be very difficult, even with our D. Have to get in his face so he has to move around. 6.6 and can run... Unreal
Get the heck out of here closet Aubby. Trolls not aloud. Dummy.

He's not even in the same room with Bo Jackson. Of course, that also applies to 99.9% of the rest of the people walking around, so no shame in that.

I've seen at least 10 QBs right off hand who were better than Newton is right now. He may get there, but right now he's not anywhere close to the best QB I have seen. I'm not saying he's not any good, but he's nowhere near as good as you make him out to be right now.

He'll have 60 minutes to show how good he is the Friday after Thanksgiving. I hope we can give him a good challenge at least before we hand him the Heisman trophy.

He seemed to get more yardage against MSU with the designed QB run rather than scrambles. MSU just could not get a clear shot on him, which tells me he's a better runner than he looks. He looked very slow, but was making lots of people miss. No one was really able to get a good lick on him.

With our LBs, I don't think that designed QB run will be nearly as effective.

That is EXACTLY how Florida defended Alabama, many years ago, when we had to put David Palmer in at Quarterback. Other teams chased him around, while he either found a receiver, or a running lane. Florida defenders simply stopped at the line of scrimage, and waited, because he would have to come across that line, if he was to score.
Cam Newton is no David Palmer :)

A Barner friend of mine on FB posted a link to this picture from TheWarEagleReader.com:

To which I replied:
"Nice...artwork for your star QB mimicking that of a crumbling president. Don't let me stop you guys."

A lot of potential and hype, but will ultimately fizzle out and crumble when put under pressure. ;)

It will be hard to defend him since he was able to be on the field and in the stands with a cowbell at the same time. Guy must be quick as lightning!!!

I agree. He must think he is Tebow running like that. That boy is going to get hurt if he thinks he can run it and get hit that much the entire season. We may not have to worry about him in November because he may not be on the field.

Also, he looks so sloooow coming off the snap. I don't know what it is, but it looked weird to me last night.

I noticed it seemed he couldn't handle the blitz. State missed some tackles. My solution to stopping him is blitz like heck and have a spy on him. Also, man up on the dang WR's. Don't back up 20 yards like State did.

Hurry up and take this back before everyone thinks you're serious!
I'm not saying that he's not a good athlete, but he's not on the same planet as Bo Jackson. He looked better than I expected he would against Arkansas State, but then again it was Arkansas State. Last night I wasn't overly impressed with him against a mediocre Mississippi State defense. Not to say he looked bad, but he's not setting the world on fire either. I personally think that he's a good fit for Aubarn's offense and that he will cause problems for some teams because of his running ability. Having said that, I think he's a good quarterback, but not in the same class as McElroy in my opinion.

Anyone who watched, last night, would have to draw the same conclusion.

From what I saw last night, all we have to do is actually tackle him and not over pursue. The amount of halfass arm tackles on Newton was absolutely ridiculous. And on another note, I can't believe MSU fell for that behind the back handoff, what, 5 times?
