Who thinks we'll be undefeated now in the SEC?

I hope we go undefeated but won't be shocked if we drop one. USCe concerns me the most. This coming week they'll be resting up and scheming for Bama's visit to Colombia in two weeks. We'll be contending with Florida.

It can be done, it has been done, but with our remaining schedule, who knows. They just need to practice hard, play harder, TCB on the field, and it will all fall into place.

SimplePig, you have been one classy visitor and one Hog I wish others would take lessons from where I work and play. Enjoyed your interaction and character.

ditto. Simplepig, and all the arky fans here this week, have been great, in both their discussions and their behavior and grace. That was a hard fought game yesterday, and Arkansas will be the second best team in the SEC this year. I wish the best for the rest of the season for you guys, and again, thanks to all of you for the great week of discussion...

Good luck!

We just beat the team everyone says that had the best shot at beating us. I still think the next two game will be almost as tough. Gimpy Dareus too is trouble enough. So who think we'll be undefeated once again in the SEC?

I will be very surprised and incredibly impressed if we can go through our schedule undefeated. We still have four more top 20 teams, two of them on the road. Six teams will be rested and able to add a few wrinkles for us. Imagine if Arkansas had not faced Georgia the week before us. They may have been more rested in the second half. The bottom line is that our schedule is incredibly difficult. We have a very good team, but we also have some areas that need to be fixed before I believe that we can navigate our schedule undefeated. This team seems to like proving what it can do, though.

Well looking at the two teams that worry you the most.... LSU and Auburn.... LSU has serious QB issues and Cam Newton has no short passing game. They were booing their own QB last night at LSU, and I doubt Bama will let Newton just run around without getting stuffed plenty of times. If Saban and Smart knew how how to dial up a D to stop Tebow, I don't think Cam presents a tougher problem than that.....

Have faith my man....

Don't worry, I have faith. LSU may have their problems right now but they are still a top 20 team and we will play there. Last years defense was better than this years defense and we will see how they end up but I am saying don't underestimate our biggest rival. Say what you want about Newton's short passing game but he is still putting up nice numbers and they are winning games against pretty good teams.

Was proud of this Bama team today, and I think the defense grew-up some in that 2nd half. Offense had a bad 1st half, but they have to carry this team better than they did that 1st half, to have any chance of winning them all.

Off to the next tough SEC game.......

:BigA: ROLL TIDE :BigA:

I think we'll know for sure when the Fla game gets going. Which D will start this game, the one that started the Arky game or the one that finished it?

Newton's legs are AU's short passing game. Unbelievable speed for a guy so big.

Guys, I think we might just pull it off. That D has just grew up before our eyes. Will they still make mistakes? Yes, but they've found a way to weather the storm. They stepped up. I think they are about to get better. We played the worst game I think we've played since the Utah game. Uncharacteristic turnovers, blown coverages and we still win? I think they (the D) are going to be a strength now.

I agree with this. After the Arky game I am actually feeling more confident about the young D. Now they know what their weaknesses are. I wonder if they knew they had a weakness. I think they grew up 10 fold. Look how Florida's O struggled and are now getting better. I think the Bama D will also.

I think there are as many reasons why we will go undefeated as there are why we might not. We have the best QB and 1-2 RBs in the SEC, maybe the nation, as well as quality, experienced receivers and an improving OL who still made many bad plays. Without the offensive mistakes yesterday, that game could have been another blowout. An INT in the EZ, and another that would likely have gone for a TD which they cashed in on for a TD of their own. That's a HUGE point swing which had us in trouble all day. Couple that with our inexperienced DBs playing the best "throwing" QB in the league and it was a recipe for disaster. But when our offense settled in and our defense brought pressure and allowed our DBs to make the INTs, disaster averted.

As for the rest of the schedule, of course anyone could beat us if we play another bad half or game, but when we put it all together, I still see us sitting in the SECCG, beating Florida again and then to the NC against whomever. Bring on the rest of the season!!

ROLL TIDE!!

Can we get beat..Of course we can..I like our chances of running the table again..All summer all we've heard is Arkansas is the team that matches up to us the best & they had the best chance of knocking us down..And they do have a great QB & football team..But the fact is..Had it not been for a couple of busted plays early in the game that lead to their first 2 scores..This game wouldn't have been close..Once our young D settled down & started playing like a Bama D..The Hogs didn't stand a chance..Bama has a great shot of running the tables..That's just my opinion..

You think we got schooled? So what do you think happened in the 2nd half? Arky only gained 120 total yards and 3 points. I think we turned the corner on D. I just hope Darues is fine and he still played the 2nd half. Offensively, no way we play like that again.
I said we got schooled in the first half. As in we got exposed and had to learn some hard lessons.

Read more closely.

On any given Saturday, any team can lose. BUt what impresses me is the fact that when the chips are down, Bama finds a way to win. That is the mark of a great team. Will we go undefeated, I have no idea, but I like the attitude and urgency that shows when we have to get something done to pull one out.

Before Sat I was more concerned about USCe than FL.

However, Today I am more concerned about FL now that they found Trey Burton for short yardage QB runs.

I was less concerned about USCe after watching them last nite but now that I remember they get a week off before playing us I'm a bit more concerned. We'll have to see what shape we're in after FL. I don't see Lattimore gouging us and I don't see USCe being able to stop our running game plus USCe and Garcia seem to find a way to beat themselves.

People say our defense "grew up" a lot against Arkansas, but we're still going to see some "first-half" mistakes during the rest of season. We're going to revert back to "Oh Sh**!" mode more than a couple of times. Hopefully it won't cost us too bad.

I disagree with ya..We will still make mistakes of course..But our D won't make those same mistake that got in trouble early on..Our D played NC style ball in the 2nd half..JMO

I agree but I do think more than anything the play calling will be a lot more aggressive from here out. The mistakes will still be there but so will the big plays

don't think about WHO you would rather lose to for this question...it has to do with timing.

if we were to drop one, would you rather it be now? Or later? Now, we have a chance to work back up in the polls a spot or two. Later, the chance is tougher.

Thoughts?

I agree with your reasoning about an earlier loss being easier to overcome. The only advantage I could see to a later loss is if the conference has already been decided and dropping one wouldn't matter. I don't want a loss either way, but if a loss were to be inevitable, then sooner is definitely preferred in my book.

The good news is that now the coaches have tape on what to prepare for in Burton......MUCH better than it being a surprise substitute QB situation, aka FSU in Atlanta!
