5 Reality Checks From Tonights Florida Game.....

1) When we have a big lead at half we still sleepwalk. Sick of it..Play 60 MINUTES FULL THROTTLE!!! 7 points in the 2nd half and that was a pick 6. This type on mental play will get us beat this year by someone if it does not change.

2)Teams know how to shut our running game down now and only Hanks can get open against man-coverage.

3) Julio is good for at least 1 crucial drop every game. He's a 5-Star Athlete, a 5-Star blocker, and a 3-Star Receiver.

4) Defense is still getting shredded in the passing game and only getting bailed out by timely turnovers.

5) Ingram's Heisman hopes are done. 40 yrds??....over

6) We make these mistakes and still win by 25 against NUMBER 7

7) NUMBER 7

8) 25 points

9) RTR

Man, put the bottle down and get sleep, the sun will rise in the morning.

I'm glad we got that Heisman monkey off our back. Now we can focus on winning championships again.

Our offense didn't play too hard in the second half and that's okay. We were at no point in the second half in danger of losing this game. Ever.

When you are up by 21 at the half, the clock becomes your friend. Its hard to take advantage of a clock when you are passing a bunch. So you rely heavily on the run game at that point. Most coaches utilize this strategy if they have the horses. Most coaches would try to defend the run first if they are on the other end of that as well.

When you are up by 21, the last thing you want to do is give up a big play. Your defensive backs are much more likely to provide a little cushion up front than risk getting beat deep for a big score. So a team behind is likely to get a few passing yards while trying to play catch up. They are also more likely to turn the ball over.

It was nice to see Ingram win the Heisman last year. But it was not a priority then and it is certainly not a priority now. And he sat three games, so his chances were remote to begin with. The kids from U of Michigan and QB from Stanford are getting alot of love right now, rightfully so.

Three goal line stands!?!?! Four turnovers?!?!You wont get an ounce of complain about the defense from me.

Anyone want to elaborate on what point I am wrong about?? Yeah it was great to win...but those are all valid problems, areas that need improvement, and reality.

Well, I , for one would love to hear how teams now know how to stop the running game...

Only point I can agree on is about Julio, but why automatically look for the negative? That's what Coach Saban gets paid $4M a year to do!!

All I want to see, besides a win each week, is to see the team improve and they did. Even when our offense wasn't as explosive as they have been, our defense improved a lot and proved they can play against a good opponent.

I'm very pleased and looking forward to seeing them play-and improve-against a good USCe team.

BTW.... GMAC was just on college football live and echoed my first point....they didn't play 60 minutes. It's a problem. I can see it, the players see it, and the coaches see it. Why can't you people handle doses of reality?

1) I wonder if we went all out in the 2nd half would we have a Prothro-type injury.

2) Who knows how to shut our running game down? We let off the gas in the third.

3) Julio is sometimes absent-minded. He's good at making up for it. See LSU 2009 for evidence.

4) Timely turnovers? You meancreated TOs?

5) WGAS?

Understand the original posters frustration, but you must realize (and I see you are new so maybe you don't yet) that Saban is very old school, with a 20 point lead Saban will run, punt, and play defense all day long (see NC game).

D has lots of new starters, played some zone and gave up some plays, but made big plays as well. This is a young D overall.

It doesn't matter how you win 31-6, it is a dominate performance either way.

Only ever been one repeat Heisman, and Ingram properly puts team goals ahead of his own, you should too. This program was built by a legendary coach who never had a Heisman winner at Bama despite all his success because it is a TEAM game.

Lots to improve on, there always is. Next week is a tough test, toughest of the season.

Coaches and team understand better than you what needs to improve and what needs to be done to do so. If you can't enjoy a 31-6 W over #7 Florida go cheer for Boise State.

I hate to be "that guy" but what you just posted reeks of football sense amd optimism. Although I could be wrong, I do not believe either belong in a thread like this.

They put 7-8 in the box and played man coverage. TR and MI barely had 100 yrds combined. Only Hanks can get open in man coverage....not a good recipe.

No kidding?

Florida didn't invent the 8th man in the box, nor did they show anything tonight that teams can effectively use.

22 carries for 110 yards and 2 TDs for Ingram/Richardson. Was it their normal production? No. However, they normally get more than 22 carries...but because of the turnovers, this was an awkward night for the offense.

Regarding the team not performing well offensively in the 2nd half, let's think about this.

Florida got the ball coming out from half. Long drive that resulted in a FG. We get the ball, go 3 & out. Florida sustains another drive, which ended in the Pick 6 by CJ Mosely. We scored, but still didn't get the offense on the field. Florida gets the ball back. Another long sustained drive which resulted in a fumble near the goalline that we recovered. The offense ran one play after that before the 3rd qtr ended.

So..to sum that up..we ran all of 5 plays where we had the ball (one of which was us punting the ball away). By the time the 4th quarter came, we were looking for ways to get the clock to speed up.

So you know...the offense can't really establish any kind of rhythm if they're not on the field.

You're absolutely right. These things killed us. Oh, wait...we won the game 31-6.

Never mind,

Go back to studying cattle husbandry.
