As expected, Clowney picks USCe

I live in SC and sentiment from USC fans I know is that JC is heading to Columbia ... they have felt this way for a long time. IMO, the longer this plays out, the better shot Bama has and the more nervous USC becomes. If some boards are correct (big if) it appears that Bama might be turning away some top-rated talent due to numbers which leads me to believe that Bama, as another poster observed, has a good feeling for who is coming in. Interesting more are the positions of those that were reportedly told they would need to wait to enroll (Hart/Carradine (sp?)). May be connecting too many dots and albeit long-shot but holding hope for both Crowell and Clowney. Also hoping that KS and Bo stays ... with all the turnover going on and perhaps some yet to come, a more stable environment might win the day big time.

For awhile now Clowney has said that he's announcing on National Signing Day. I'd like to think it bodes well for us, but I don't think it makes a difference about 'how long this plays out'. Just my 2 cents.

he will be a game .... why else would dickson be a top priority if we were getting clowney.
they are both top priorities because dickson could and probably will grow into a DE. Also Kirby Bo and Sal are staying. Curt is prolly gone and that is likely it on coaches leaving unless Coach Mac leaves for Texas or a Head Coaching Job. Also Sal is happy here and wants to stay here loves coaching the talent we bring in Possibly the best hire bama has made other than Saban and Kirby Smart. Bo Davis os staying and thats really good. Also let all the Gamecocks believe he is a lock Kinda like crowell is to UGA. Not saying im as high on clowney as i am Crowell. Also We passed on the number 2 Juco Player in the Nation for a reason don't believe otherwise. We also are likely getting the best Juco LT with SEC playing experience this year and will be and EE also what i am hearing is one and done so Cyrus could come in and compete and maybe red shirt which could be the best thing for him kinda like Flukner who is working his but off during this break to get better. I'll post the video here in a lil bit.

ok jam answer me this how do you see our class ending up and with who? give me two scenarios on RB because crowell is shaky at best. i want to know how we look for the rest of the guys on the board leave cyrus out i know about him.

hi folks i'm new here and this is my first post. Jambama1 you make a whole lot of accurate observations as a result i feel i should ask you this as i've been following this Clowney recruitment pretty closely. Have you heard anything about the Rock Hill community and securing Clowney's commitment to South Carolina? Thanks for any insight you may be able to have.

per BOL sources, some Bama assistant coaches have said that Saban does not considered Clowney the most coveted prospect in this class.

some have said the JUCO Jessie Williams is the most important commit for the 2011 class. some think Clowney is 1A and Williams is 1B.

with the comment made by Clowney a few days ago (not preferring to play the 3-4), Williams is the central key to establishing our dominance in defense for the next few years.

TIFWIW

I would probably agree since williams's impact should be instant. we need a presence at nose badly.

Not Jam, but lived for years in Rock Hill and now I'm one town over . . . RH is one of the best little football towns in the Southeast. In the two biggest classifications of SC high school football this year, the town produced one champion (led by Justin Worley, Gatorade Player of the Year and a Vol commit) and one runner-up (Clowney's team blew an 8-point lead in the fourth quarter). It annually produces a number of Division I football prospects, which, when South Carolina was bad, attended universities all over the South. One year, rival RH schools had All-American safeties at both Ohio State and Florida State.

And that's the challenge we face. South Carolina doesn't stink anymore, and the Gamecocks have locked down Rock Hill (Clemson folks smell a rat). JC and his coach were absolutely floored by their visit to Tuscaloosa. But he comes from a family of very modest means and the time and cost of traveling to Tuscaloosa for games is an issue. Plus, South Carolina already has two of his former teammates who are stars on a very young defense filled more and more by in-state players. Thus, the gravitational pool toward Columbia is getting stronger

That we have made this competitive for as long as we have is a testament to our coaches and program. Unfortunately, this one has to be a knockout. A push goes to the team an hour down the road.

This has been my feeling all along. Clowney is the type of talent that comes around once every 10 years. It would be an absolutely HUGE get for us if we could pull it off. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that distance is going to be the feather that tips the scale. I posted a long time ago that if distance were not a factor then he'd be ours to lose.

Kudos off the CNS and staff for making this a competitive race but I am not going to get my hopes up for this one.

well to help you guys feel a little better we will probably close this class with the following dickson hart hill mitchell and maybe a surprise in leon mackey that my friends puts us at 10 espnu 150 blue chips for the year.
