Apparently, Preyer's father asked for the tattoos from a different parlor. But there's no indication that he asked for tattoos from the fambily-run parlor that ended up getting the merchandise. And in any case, Terrell never knew about his father's having requested tats from the first parlor to begin with. Terrell is an awesome guy and would never accept tats. I think this is all just sour grapes from the first parlor anyway because they never got the merchandise. That, and the Red Elephant Club.

i agree. obviously tatoos don't give you a competitive advantage on the field. not like, oh i don't know, paying a player to attend your school. why does the NCAA seem to be so inconsistent with its rulings?

You're exactly right. If all they have to do is pay it back if they get caught, nothing is going to stop them for doing it again.

Let them pay it back. Do a little community work. We had a couple players go on a fishing trip. This is not like a bunch of boosters or the BOT handing out thousands to obtain the sig. of recruits.

The Hogs are split on whether they should be suspended. We want to play OSU at their full strength, so they will have no excuses if (when) we beat them (a la Tex..... and Colt McCoy). OTOH, if the tats were an infraction, then appropriate punishment should be imposed (hopefully, short of suspensions, though). And, of course, you do have the issue of the NCAA turning a blind eye and giving the Barn special treatment.

Lordy, the $Cam case is such a source of hilarious posts on this thread!

From what I just saw from people covering the press conference, it looks as if they'll play the Sugar Bowl but will sit out the first five games of 2011.

Pryor must repay $2,500 for selling his 2008 Big Ten title ring, 2009 Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and 2008 Gold Pants Award...

People are having a field day with that. The NCAA says they didn't gain a competitive advantage and believed OSU did a poor job in instructing the players about proper protocol.

Basically, they did it to protect the bowl game.

As I understand it, these are NCAA suspensions (not institutional). And OSU, of course, will appeal.

Yep and the reason for it is crazy b/c I know our guys get information overload about improper benefits and you know that big schools do the same thing, so it's a load of crap about them not receiving adequate information imho. They'll appeal and it'll probably go to 3 or 4 games (although 4 is the lowest it should go b/c AJ Green was out for 4 and did the exact same thing in selling sports memorabilia for roughly the same amount). I really hope Arky destroys them now.
