Isn't Jerry Palm the guy on ESPN that has horrible comb over hair and is only marched out for like 4 days before selection Sunday and then put up again like Xmas decorations?

No Jerry Palm doesn't work for ESPN. Joe Lunardi is ESPN's "bracketologist."

Those guys act like predicting the field is difficult when it actually takes very little skill. 31 of the 68 teams are automatic qualifers. Then there are another 30-35 quality teams that will lose in their conference tournament, but are obvious NCAA Tournament teams (Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Kansas State, etc.). That adds up to over 60 teams so by Sunday afternoon they really only have to predict the final three or four teams out of fewer than 10 bubble teams that will be left by then.

Picking the bubble teams is the hard part.

Apparantly, Lunardi still has the Tide on the outside looking in... UNBELIEVABLE!!! 5-2 against the SEC East, including a tournament win over UGA in their backyard... we win our division going away... GEEZ!!! Are we going to have to beat KY tomorrow to get in the tournament?

Lunardi's bracket will change 3-4 more times before the night is over with. Boston College is about to get beat by Clemson pretty soundly so they likely drop to the out group.

Michigan State and USC still play tonight and are part of the last 4 group

We may be in on the strength of an OT win against a good opponent, but we still need to beat UK to seal the deal. Assuming it is UK that is. Love to have another shot a Florida on neutral floor when it is not senior nite and we are playing on short rest.

Great Win for CAG and the guys regardless.

Some in the ATL media are now saying Alabama and UGA are both in even though everyone here was saying the winner of today's game is in while the loser is out (before the game). What a joke. I wish this city could have some kind of decent sports talk.

Was mainly fans and a select few media members talking like it was a winner take all type game. Most "experts" believed it was a play in for Bama, but that Georgia was probably alright either way as long as it wasn't a blow out

This is simply not true. I truly believe we are already in, and so do a lot of other people, but even if we aren't a win over Kentucky would seal it.

I wish and hope you are right. But from Joe Lunardi all we did by winning today was knock out Georgia. I know he is a supposed expert and may be correct but to me he is a joke. Win the damn tourney and they can't keep us out!!!

Exactly, but by Sunday afternoon there are very few slots left for bubble teams and very few teams still on the bubble. They always brag about Lunardi getting 97% of the teams in the field correct, but you would have probably 92% correct just by including the conference tournament winners and the obvious at-large teams. Lunardi's record of missing three teams over the past three years is not as impressive when you actually break it down.

Have you ever kept up with his bracket in the past?

He always says that it changes hour to hour up until Saturday night. There is a reason he considered the best at what he does

How accurately he seeds them though is VERY impressive

You are right about that. That is the part they should be advertising. Palm and a lot of these other wannabe prognosticators can get the field correct, but the seeding is the real art and that is where Lunardi is better.
