We didn't run as well as we'd have liked to, but I was impressed in the way Lacy was pressing holes during his run. Reminded me a lot of Mark Ingram. and always impressed with how Lacy finishes his runs.

He's a bull. Looking for him to have a strong second half of the year
Our running game is going to have to become more consistant or we wont win #15 in January.

A) props to OL Miss. They are improving every game.
B) as I said in the pre game thread, this late game worried me. I figured we'd come out flat and OL Sis would be inspired. Why, it's human nature. We just didn't have enough to motivate us going into this game vs the long wait all day, so it translated into being a little flat. Good news is we are good enough to over come it.

C)injuries ugh!
D) Cooper is awsome!
E) A win is not a loss. :)

Let me repost this yet once more before I retire for the the night - I have an ACL graft. It has no nerves. None do. Therefore, they don't hurt when you tear them. Hart was in obvious pain. Therefore, my conclusion is that it's remote that he re-tore the ACL graft, although it's possible he tore it at the same time he injured another knee component, like MCL, meniscus, etc., none of which is as serious as a re-rupture of the ACL graft. I'd appreciate those of you staying up re-posting or replying to this post, so that there is some answer to all of the repetitive posts about Hart's knee from folks who haven't read the thread...
Isn't it true you are much more likely to tear the other knee after you have had an ACL repair than to tear the repaired one. Based on some of my friends this seems to be the trend.

It was the right knee tonight, can't remember which one he hurt the first time.

Ugly but I take it. I will never throw back wins. Take it and move on. I rather mediocre against Ole Miss then play average against Towson (right LSU?). Bye week is here, and let's get those boys healthy.

Here's some quotes after the game from rolltide.com..

"It was a hard fought win for us, and we are certainly happy for our team to be able to get a win. I don't think the people give Ole Miss enough credit. They are really playing well. They play hard. They are very physical, a complete turnaround. Their offense is difficult to defend with the no huddle situation and the perimeter speed that they have. We knew this would be a tough game.

"There are definitely some things we need to do better. At times, the red zone scoring in the last couple of weeks, we've settled for too many field goals too many times. That's something we probably need to improve on and use this bye week to improve on and just our overall passing game, maybe being more explosive. We really had high hopes that Amari Cooper would one day sort of find himself and do the things like he does in practice all the time in the game. I think that happened today. He played very well. That's a guy that can be an explosive player for us and help us out down the road.

"Defensively, we were in some tough spots out there. It was really difficult to sub players. At times, I think we got tired on the longer drives when we couldn't sub players because if they don't sub, you really can't sub because when they snap it quick, you aren't ready. We weren't ready to play when they hit the first big touchdown on their first drive. Guys were still looking at the bench trying to get a signal. We got better as coaches as the game went on. I think the players got used to the pace of the game as it went on, and I think we played a little better. We really didn't get accomplished in the second half what we would have liked to get accomplished in terms of getting control of the game because we went three-and-out. We got the stops on defense but then went three-and-out and never really put a drive together and kicked two field goals. We need to do a little bit better job of finishing games as well.

"You have to give Ole Miss a lot of credit. They played hard and with a lot of toughness. We had a lot of respect for their team coming into this, but nobody really listens to me until after the fact, and they say, `Yeah, you were right.'

"We did have some guys that got injured today. DeAndrew White has a knee injury that will be evaluated tomorrow. He was really playing well for us on special teams and really playing his position well offensively. Dee Hart has a possible knee injury that will be evaluated tomorrow. Deion Belue hurt his shoulder and never returned to the game. I don't think that's serious. It's a week or two type deal. He's hurting right now, but I don't really feel like it's something that's going to keep him out for a long time."

On AJ McCarron breaking the pass attempts without an interception streak and what he is doing:

"I think he's taking what the defense gives him, and I think he is reading what he is supposed to read. He almost got one picked off in the red zone. I think he kind of misread it a little bit and got stuck. They played zone, and when people play zone down there on the 10-yard line, there are not many big windows to throw the ball down the field. He has done a good job of taking care of the ball, reading things and throwing [the ball] in the right places. We are really pleased with his development. Hopefully he will be able to continue to play that way in the future."

On if the team took a step forward or a step backwards in `The Process':

"What I told the team yesterday was most people get motivated when something bad happens. They have a disappointment or they feel some kind of pain, and then all of the sudden they want to change or do things better, practice better, work harder and change whatever and listen to what the coaches say and all those kind of things. We don't have that kind of circumstance. We actually need to develop the right habits, the right characteristics of what we do and how we do it, so that we can improve and get better without having to go through something bad happening. So, the challenge is to play at a high-standard and to prepare at a high standard, to motivate yourself at a high standard all the time, so that you don't get bad consequences. That's a difficult thing to do because I think it's kind of fighting human-nature a little bit. People get satisfied to easily. When we lost to LSU last year, that was a big motivating factor to finish the season and probably a big motivating factor in winning the next game that we played. We don't have that right now. Are we going to be a team that can show enough character to not have that to happen before we continue to work and improve and have the leadership and do the things we need to do so we don't sit around and say, `We started dreaming about the possibilities of what we could of done, if we would have done it right or if we would have prepared better.' The solution is pretty obvious. Do it right to start with, and prepare the right way. This was a difficult preparation though. It's like when we played Auburn when [Gus] Malzhan was there. It's difficult to get the defense ready. It's difficult to get them to understand the pace of the game. They're defense really played hard, did a lot of stunting and blitzing, moving. They are quick. They affected our running game a little bit."

On the turnovers in the first half:

"I think that was the turning point in the game. We really only put one true drive together. Those turnovers were really the difference in the game. The game was 7-6, and then we got the turnovers, and we got a little lead. Turnovers are always that way. We turned it over once. Robert (Lester) turned it over, when they overturned the out-of-bounds thing. I could never really see what happened on that play or why it was overturned. There was no clear view on our little screen that we saw. Obviously they saw something, but we stopped them and intercepted them again. We finished those drives when we got the interception, so that was a good thing. We are going to have to continue to get turnovers, and we are going to have to finish more drives if we are actually going to be the team we want to be."

PLAYER QUOTES

# 28 Dee Milliner, Defensive Back

On the defensive performance:

"We came out, and we executed the game plan that coach wanted for us. They played well. There were some things we could have capitalized on that we didn't. We still have got to get better. We've got to watch film and try to re-group."

On the secondary's performance:

"We played a good game today; we knew they were going to throw the ball up a lot, and we just had to make plays while the ball was in the air."

# 10 AJ McCarron, Quarterback

On the passing game:

"We had the injury bug early, but we had some young guys step up and made some plays. We are still not where we need to be, but everyone will keep working. We definitely have got to get better on this off week and keep working from there."

On Amari Cooper's performance:

"Coop did an excellent job for us running the right routes and being on time. We had good chemistry the whole night, so we definitely were good in that area. We had some other guys that stepped up and made plays for us, but like I said, we have got to keep getting better as a whole."

#22 Christion Jones, Wide Receiver

On what it was like to get into the end zone:

"The kick was pretty different. The way he kicked it, it was kind of squibbish, but I think our kickoff return team did a heck of a job blocking up front. I think we did a great job standing and doing our assignments. We were trying to get one real bad, and we finally got one when the team focused in on it, and we finally got one return back, so I thank them for the blocks they did."

#42 Adrian Hubbard, Linebacker

On the defense's play:

"We just play our roles and do what we're told and like I said everyone has to do their assigned man and when everybody does their assigned man people are able to make plays."

On his expanded role:

"When you get your chance you have to try and take advantage and that goes for everyone on the team. All I am trying to do is help the team any way I can and make plays for my teammates."

We are on our way back from the game. It was a fun atmosphere and a good turnout. People were leaving with 12 mins left on the clock. But a good amount still stayed.

I need to go back and watch it. Because from where we sat Lester looked to be out of bounds before his fumble. You should of heard the moans after the refs call in the stadium.

We were down there since 2pm and it only rain once for about 20 mins. So not bad.

True, but that may be because one has an inherited defect (keyhole arch) which makes injury more likely. When they repair your ACL, it's routine to hollow out the arch in the femur to remove that deficit...

On HD SLO-MO, it appeared that he planted his foot, which then slid across he chalk, with the ball secured. Not sure where the replay refs came up with that one. OTOH, we may have stole one on Amari's first TD, so I'm not complaining... :D

Funny thing about Cooper's Td. The first replay in the stadium was a bad angle and everyone said "aww". Then they showed another angle and he looked to have the Td and everyone cheered.

For such a late game, it sure was loud in there.

Just got back from the game. Good to get the win. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of deep pass plays on offense. Ole Miss was obviously setting up to stop the run. Not sure why we didn't try to back the safeties off. Oh well I need to watch the replay tomorrow to see how White was injured. I wasn't looking the far downfield on that play. Still not sure what happened on the fumble review. They put it up on the jumbotron with a big red circle around Lester's foot on the line.

Ol' Miss played the best game I've seen them play since Eli was there, Bama played flat and kept a vanilla gameplan on both sides of the ball, and the Tide still won very handily with the game never in question. I have trouble understanding some of the people on message boards. It has not been that long ago that if someone had promised me a three score conference win over anybody I would have gladly accepted it. The kind of success Bama has had lately is appearently spoiling some folks. Ol' Miss led by 1 point for a grand total of 1 play. Think about that and let it sink in. We cheer for a VERY GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM!!!

The point total and margin of victory doesn't bother me, but the OLine and DLine play does. It was atrocious. The QB play wasn't anything to write home about, either. I understand that it was a down game (all teams have them) and that this team is much better than the one which showed up for Saturday nights game, but we could easily get beat in the weeks to come with another game like this. And I'm not just talking about LSU. Don't get me wrong, a win is a win, but it was just an ugly, ugly game. If I were a voter, with nothing more than this game to go on, I would not vote us number one.

With all that said, I'm pretty sure the players see things the same way and I'm all but certain Coach Saban does, and both will work to make sure it does not happen again. A couple of weeks ago Saban asked the players if they needed to lose a game in order to motivate and help recenter their focus, hopefully this game will serve as that motivating loss.

Also, does anyone remember the name of that eatery on the strip that had those great
cheesy fries? It's no longer there, and I'm not sure when it closed, but it was down by The Tusk as late as the mid-90's. TIA

Let's not forget that this is was a night game, and that starting a game that late at night can really have an effect on the play and thus the eventual outcome of the game. I really believe that had the game been played earlier in the afternoon the score would have been much different. Now that I've gotten that out of the way....

Hugh Freeze has done a tremendous job coaching up the Rebels. They are a much improved team over previous seasons.
Their defense played lights out all night long. Their offense sucked until halftime; I'm supposing that's when CHF called their qb's out for "being greedy" in the long passes that we continuously intercepted.
I'm really impressed with Amari Cooper's ability and talent, and I feel good about his future with the Tide.
I hate the injuries, not only for the players themselves, but for the games ahead in which they will be needed, or missed.

We played good, about were I thought we were gonna play. Considering it's against a SEC team as well. Ole Miss is a really good team and Freeze is a good coach. We still got some kinks to work out on the OL but regardless a great win for Alabama and we should still be #1.
Injuries got me worried though.

Great win. With the other games I saw yesterday I will take it any day. When I was watching Amari Cooper play last night I thought he reminded me of the FSU receiver named Peter Warrick from several years ago. His feet and the way he moves were just smooth and so controled. I hated all of the injuries last night, but this is where our depth comes in. This looked like a quality win just like when we beat Georgia Southern last year. Ole Miss' hurry up will prepare the defense for a team such as Oregon if we play them in the championship game much like the Ga. Southern option did last year. Roll Tide!
