****Official Game Thread - Bama vs. Ole Miss - Postgame Thread****

The injuries are clearly the story.

I do think that Ole Miss might be the second best team in the east this year, all other teams considered.

It seems like Coach Saban sometimes gets hell-bent on a particular offensive philosophy, defense be damned. Like, "I know they are going to load up on the run, but we are still going to run it and you better find a way to make it work". Looked that way against WKU and on occassion tonight. We dont play that way against better competition.

Two of those FGs are TDs, it's 41-14....

I am not worried

The play calling was very vanilla, but I have to believe that it was mostly by design. I have no idea what the plan was, but in the grand scheme of things it worked which is all that mattered. When you think about it, all that you ask of your OC is that you score more points than then other team, and we did that by almost 3 TDs. Personally I have no qualms with it under the circumstances, but I will be interested to see how our style progresses now that we are hitting the meat of our schedule.

Don't worry about AJ, he's never been flashy, and it was apparent that we took our foot off the gas (which we are prone to do) pretty early on. He'll be just fine

Not that it matters a hill of beans... but from now on, every post that I read that says "a win is a win" is getting an automatic "dislike" from me. The cliche' is worn out.
Someone else sounds like they're up past their bedtime. ;) P.S. I see your "not that it matters a hill of beans" cliche and raise you "a win is a win".

Well as aggravated and frustrated as I am right now I'd be a lot more upset had we lost.

I seriously doubt that Coach Saban is thrilled with the way the team played tonight. Our best game is still out there somewhere. I'd really like to see it soon.

A win is a win.
I agree with Coach Saban's comments at the half. We never controlled this game. The offense could not sustain much of any ground game. OM was stacking the box and blitzing. I am surprised that AJ didn't find the open man more often when the blitz came.

Pass protection appeared to be very good. Either Ole Miss was coverring our receivers very well or our guys were just not getting any seperation.

AJ was lucky that he didn't get picked in the end zone when AC took the ball away from the defender and scored a TD. I'm thankful for the kickoff TD and the strong play of the defense. Hoping the injuries to our young men are not too serious and can be overcome.

The Dee Hart injury looked pretty bad. Sorry to say I know how he must feel. I have more eperience with rt knee flexing out than I like to think about. It still makes me grab my knee when I see a player go down like Dee did.

Coach'em up! Get'em ready for next game. Roll Tide

Coach Saban on Belue's (shoulder) injury: "I don't think it's serious. A week or two type deal."

DeAndrew White and Dee Hart will be evaluated tomorrow for knee injuries

Stinson not even mentioned. So we can assume that he's OK until otherwise stated.

I have never seen so many potential big injuries in 1 game..... Good news is, at least we didnt look as bad as LSU. 19 point win margin is good in my book.

the '99 LSU game was pretty bad. Kenny Smith - ACL, Canary Knight - broken leg, Marvin Constant - obliterated knee.

I think we run too many formations one offense myself..We run out the I, Pistol, one back, shotgun, & lord knows what else..I just don't like how when we start having success doing one thing, the next play we line up & run out another formation..I think it kills any momentum we gain & it never gives our offense a true identity..

Well I get what you're saying. But I'll still take an ugly win over any kind of loss.

Positives? Amari Cooper had his coming out party and we played poorly and still won by 3 scores. Negatives? White, Stinson, Hart and Belue going down. Guess we'll have to wait and see tomorrow or Monday to find out more on them. Mostly offense and defense at times played flat and uninspired football. Not sure how I feel about Nussmeier's play calling this time around. I was just complimenting him to a friend last week but didn't really feel like it was great tonight. Our OL has some great talent but I definitely wouldn't buy into the hype we hear from commentators every week about us being the best in the nation until we prove it more on the field.

I really thought we should have run the ball much better against this OM defense and granted they were stacking the box, but I don't think we adjusted to it like we should have. One of those games where you just want it to end without anyone else getting hurt and then you still have Stinson going down with like 1:30 left. Bye week comes at the right time, let's hope Saban and staff has this team re-focus during the break.

RTR! Ole Miss played hard and the game never turned into the blowout many expected.

Amari Cooper was outstanding. Very good game.

I think AJ didn't have his best game, but he made a LOT of key 3rd down passes. At one point he was 17 of 19 and of those two passes, one was a throw away and the other was a drop. 2nd half was not pretty, but he didn't make any mistakes that get you beat. We never really got the running game going and I couldn't help but keep thinking Fowler would've made a big difference in this game.

The biggest surprise was the penetration OM was able to get against the much bigger and powerful OL of Bama. They were able to do this and make plays in the backfield against the run and provide a pass rush.

Biggest question is the injuries, hopefully none will be season ending and I would say the bye week couldn't be coming at a better time! It's going to be a long two weeks, ROLL TIDE!
