Favorite BBQ Eatery

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I like P. Reds in Atlanta. not exactly my favorite place, but it is close to my current job and it is better than Fat Matt's which is also close to work.

any Atlanta people know a good place near buckhead?

Don't know how close to Buckhead it is but I hear Fox Bros down your way is pretty good. There's a joint up by Cleveland that's really good called Rib Country. I go up there once in a while (I live right outside of Gainesville on the Forsyth Co side of the lake).

it would be a 20 minute drive for lunch maybe longer. thanks though. I will have to check it out one of these days.

If you're ever near Newnan GA, south of Atlanta and north of LaGrange on I-85 (Exit 47), you should stop in at Sprayberry's BBQ. I've visited that store a couple of years ago and their original location on Jackson Street a while before that.

I seem to recall the late great Lewis Grizzard writing about Sprayberry's in Newnan. Note to self made here. ;)

To my knowledge, there aren't a whole lot of places around here (from Destin to Pensacola) to get good BBQ. Maybe too many yankee transplants??? A little hole in the wall here in Navarre called The Rib Shack does a great job with their ribs. Otherwise, I can't really recommend anything in northwest Florida. :(

If anybody can recommend somewhere, please let me know.

Have you tried Lillie's Q on Hwy 98 in Sandestin or 98 Bar-B-Que on Hwy 98 in Santa Rosa Beach? If so, what did you think?

One in Mobile sucked...you couldn't tell what you were eating, it all tasted the same...I mean it ALL tasted the same; beans, potato salad, chicken, ribs, pork...might as well have put it all in a blender. Glad it closed.
Never been to the one in OS. But the best BBQ in Mobile was always Rodger's (I think technically one of them is in Prichard, and the other in Chickasaw or Saraland).

I couldn't agree more -- the Shed here in Mobile was horrible. We continue to stick with the Brick Pit & a little hole in the wall place on Airport called "Big Al's".

Dad's BBQ or The Goal Post here in Anniston are both really good if you travel on I-20 between B'Ham & Atlanta..

The Goal Post is an icon of my childhood. We moved around Alabama and Georgia a bit, but always went back to visit my mom's family in Gadsden when we lived elsewhere. When my sisters and I could look out the station wagon window and see the neon-lit field goal kicker, we knew we were almost there.

He never missed one.
