Saban signs multi-year extension w/Bama, shorthorns on suicide watch...

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I ain't gonna lie. I come back every couple of hours hoping for positive news, dreading bad news....

I never ever thought I would think about Mack Brown while laying in bed. It's actually sort of creepy.

You are a sick man 😱

To each his own. I was thinking of Dee Bonner. :)

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Best thing that can happen here is for Mack to stay and go 11 - 1 next year. He came on strong at the end of this year. He needs to get the right coordinators and stop the revolving door for coordinators that has been Texas the last several years.

Unfortunately they`re probably going to get clocked by Oregon. That`ll proably keep things stirred up.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Just how dumb can you get? Texas not take Saban for granted? Gimme a break. This person doesn't understand Texas entitlement...

The whole list was dumb. Number 6 was the culture of Austin. Again, Saban is a 62 year old man who probably isn't interested in whatever there is to do in Austin. He dreams of retiring to the lake, I doubt he wants to go clubbing.

Then number 7 was that Manzeil will be gone after this year. Wouldn't that be a benefit to Alabama's coach?

Number 2 was money. We'll match whatever they offer.

Just to continue in that vein about Austin. The big lake in Austin -Lake Travis- is not comparable to Lake Tuscaloosa or Lake Burton. It is down about 40 to 50 feet below its normal pool unless it has come up in the last 6 months. Austin is a tech center that can stand on its own as a metropolitan city whereas Tuscaloosa is a college town. There is much more to do in Austin, but he is really on interested in the football practice fields and the stadium so I don't think that is a consideration. As I've heard it said by some, one football field looks pretty much like any other field and that is all he would be interested in. CNS knows that Mrs. Terri is the one that has to be happy since he is pretty much going to be gone most of the time anyway.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Good morning! AJ won the Maxwell and Nick Saban said something interesting at the award ceremony in Orlando. He said,“Players don’t care what you know until they know you care." He was talking about John Gagliardi, but the implication is clear - he cares about his players. He is not Fran. He isn't going anywhere.

Stay warm - it is cold outside.

Amen, brother!

CNS most certainly is staying In T Town...

Oh and, as for cold, sadly, I hear ya, brother.

-12 F [had to do the conversion, as they use Celcius up here] as I head out for my 30 min walk to the office...

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Miami is a pretty happening place. Yet he gave that up to come here.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

I do like watching Austin City Limits! On TV.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

If you consider the merits of Miami and Austin, Austin lacks the 'Third World' feel of Miami. Tuscaloosa at least doesn't suffer from the traffic problem of Austin...

I'm about the same age as CNS, and if I had uprooted and moved as much as he has, I'd be content to stay at Bama. If Terry is content and tired of moving, then they'll stay put. Moving is a lot of trouble, even when you can pay for most of the work.

Haven't you heard? Austin is way more happening than Miami!

Just read the shorthorn forums, they'll tell you.

10 Most Overrated Cities

While we're here:

Rudy Vallee's "Football Freddy" was not about a Texas football player.
Steely Dan's winners of the world was not the Texas Longhorns.
That submarine movie with Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington was not called "Longhorns", and the name of the sub was not Texas.
That TV show back in '80s was not called "BJ and Daryl"
ABC's College Football did not premiere with the Texas Longhorns.
Tommy Lewis did not say "I'm just too full of Texas"

Feel free to add.

Float our battleships and let them start firing at each other, and see who wins.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

Mack Brown just tweeted a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote...

"Don't waste your life in doubts and fears: spend yourself on the work before you ...
...assured that the right performance of this hour's duties will be the best prep for the hours or ages that follow it.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson

BTW, he's reportedly meeting with the AD and Powers later this afternoon.

Re: New Discussion Thread on Possible Coaching Changes...

One more thing to keep in mind: Who is really in charge at the University of Texas? I am not sure anyone knows the answer to that right now. Would anyone feel comfortable negotiating a contract with someone who may get forced out at any time? That in itself will scare off many of the top names in the coaching ranks(assuming that Mack Brown even leaves). Texas boosters may be awash in oil money right now, but it won't help if the best coaches don't want to be a pawn in a power struggle.
