Good Lord. Can they just go on and hire somebody already!
That's the only thing which will put an end to it. Despite all that Saban has said, intentionally, IMO, which would make it impossible for him to retract, there's a substantial number on Shaggy who think the deal with Saban is not dead...

To be fair, there's a substantial portion of the board (and a few other shorthorn forums) that literally believe they can buy ANYONE. I'm talking either Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton, etc...

SB is one truly dysfunctional group of people. I don't think I hate them though. I think I feel sorry for them.

There was one gem, though, among all the insanity, and that was in response to Gus Malzhan being a potential head coach, a guy named hookem48 said, "if Georgia didn't have the 2 dumbest football players in the country both playing Dback would anyone be talking about Malzahn?"

I busted out laughing.

CNS has always found a way to find a coordinator. I"m sure he'll be able to find someone who can do equal job that Kirby and or Cochran can do. Look at Nuss.
I think we'd be hard-pressed to find a DC as good as Kirby. Plus, some people think that Coach Cochran might go with Kirby once Kirby gets a HC job. I'd hate to lose either of them.

Believe me, it's not just "that person." And, as CA indicated, it's not just that forum, either...
that attitude won't go away soon. Ever since the cowboys started to falter (late 90's), texas has really been the only consistently good team in state, so there's a bunch of sidewalk fans that have no perspective of history outside the state. I think we are starting to have some fans act the same way with our recent successes.

That's what happens when you let your boosters run your sports programs. Like I've said before, it's just another job and it wouldn't surprise me in the least to hear of Mack Brown landing a HC job at another D1 school.
Mack isn't taking another coaching job any time soon. He is getting his 2.75 million buyout and getting "reassigned" to a new position in the university as "special assistant" to the president for 1.3M per year.

Not just on Shaggy. And Shaggy is about the worst with sources. But the fans don't care about Saban anymore. We just wanted Mack out.

To be fair, money entices a majority of people. It's a rare breed this day in age that won't switch jobs for a 30% raise. Any job, not just college football. How many of you would stay at your current position if you received an offer for far more than your currently salary? I love my job but I would certainly consider it.

Oh, I think Saban did consider it, briefly. The thing is that it was never, ever going to be a 30% increase over what Bama would be willing to see and cover. There still is a limit, albeit always upwardly moving, of what a public institution can be seen to pay. The Sabans have already been helped with some debts, in the millions, this year alone and they're not in financial distress, all the fanciful stuff on the UT sites about a 25 million hole to the contrary. So, the money was never going to be the determiner, something 90% of the UT fans didn't "get." A few did. Aside from the money, UT is viewed as a dumpster fire by outsiders. CNS's contract has a strict limit on demands on his time outside football. His normal day (and his assistants) ends at 10:00 PM, during the season. They're on the job at 7:00 AM each morning. That's the primary reason he has won 3 of the last 4 NCs. There's no way on earth he'd consent to the demands of he LHN, plus, for example, the booster who gets to walk the sidelines with Mack every Wednesday. In the end, the same obstacles which would keep Saban from reconsidering the NFL were very similar to the ones which kept him from seriously considering UT...

I agree with this totally, but it was clear that Alabama wasn't going to be outbid for Saban. There's no doubt in anybody's mind that if Saban had told our AD that Texas had offered $10M, and he would leave if we didn't get that here, he would have gotten it.

The Texas fans, as well as our rivals, have always liked to say that Saban is hired gun and will go to highest bidder, but they forget (or never bothered to acknowledge) that Saban took a pay cut to come here from the Dolphins. Wayne Huizenga did not want Saban to leave, but Saban was not happy in the NFL. He was making $4.5M and year and came to Alabama for $4M.

Saban is at the point in his career where the situation is more important to him than making a little more money somewhere else. Saban has everything he could possibly need to be in contention for NC's every single year at a place where college football is the undisputed king. I know Texas fans are proud of UT, but no state in this country takes college football more seriously than the state of Alabama. The vast majority of people here care little for the NFL, basketball (college or pro), nor is this a baseball state. HS football is huge in Texas, but for the most-part, the biggest interest in HS football here is limited to teams that happen to have players that are going to Bama or AU. There are people here that will drive to see player's games that are committed to their school, but won't go to a single HS game in their own hometown.

You have admitted that Texans are confident/arrogant about a lot of things, and I appreciate your honesty about that. On the other side of it, Alabama fans as just confident/arrogant about Alabama football. We feel that we are the kings of college football and that everybody's school is below us in our opinion, if we are being honest about it. There's really no wonder why Bama and Texas fans butt heads! -lol

You seem like a good dude, and I'm glad you are around. I hope you stick around.

There's something about Orange and delusional. I'm serious.
"Orange is probably the most rejected and under-used color of our time. However, young people do respond well to it as it has a degree of youthful impulsiveness to it."

"Orange offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief."
