November 18 (week 4) CFP poll released

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

The two Mississippi teams were overrated. It was proven on the field. Oregon could beat either one. Oregon was also the only team who gave the SEC their best shot in the NCG. Oregon is hungrier with more to prove. I hope the kind of arrogance and complacency in this post is shared by the players and the staff if our teams do meet up on the field.
Are you trying to convince us or yourself? Oregon has accomplished exactly nothing in 120 years of football. The quacks might beat Vandy and Kentucky consistently but if they were in the SEC, they would be 2nd tier. They're just another flashy team with ugly uniforms.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

I haven't read everything in the thread, but I'd just like to say that 1. I've enjoyed having you as a poster on here, even if you're a Duck homer and 2. You're entitled to your opinion, and especially for a fan of a different team, you've been reasonably respectful (again, haven't read the whole thread, so if you really said something awful that I missed, I retract this and you can hit the road, jack). So no, I don't agree with your opinion on MSU, but that's totally fine with me if you have a different opinion on it. I'd prefer we settle the argument on the field. ;-)

Roll Tide.

You're OK by me, oregonbltzkrieg. I hear what you're saying about MSST - you just wanted to see them look a little better and compete against Bama, which they really didn't do... and I don't mind a few visiting fans, so long as they are respectful - which I believe you've pretty much always been. Cheers!

Thank you both. I enjoy talking with fans of other teams, not just with ducks, to me it makes the college football season more colorful and interesting. Differing opinions can make for a lively discussion. I wish your team well and was cheering you on as you beat both LSU and MSU. I enjoyed the LSU game much more because it was a nail biter and they brought their A game, even if they don't seem to have the greatest QB. I echo the sentiments here, that I'd rather not see a rematch between Bama and MSU, but for me it is more of an issue of entertainment. I prefer the LSU/Auburn games that you all play every season.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Perhaps. But your team looks vastly improved from then, by the eye test. I think you would beat them easily in their own house at this point in the season, even if they were injury free.

Actually, the team has improved, as all do, but not vastly. Bama had three key injuries early in that game, including center Ryan Kelly. Kelly calls the blocking signals. After he left , we were unable to run the ball. But no one on a national stage mentions that , and the injuries were never taken into account, like they have been for some teams. ;)

"He who is given much, much is expected." Seems this is the proverb that the college football world follows. I agree that it's not really fair that your injuries were discounted, if they have been. I was unaware of them until I read about them here.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

DUCKFAN, how in the world can you come on this board and downgrade any SEC team's accomplishments? Oregon plays in the worst division in all of college football. OREGON is the only team in the division with a winning record in conference, and Washington only has an overall winning record because they scored late to outscore FCS powerhouse Eastern Washington 59-52

Our conference is a mess. Teams that shouldn't win certain games, do, and teams that are expected to win certain games, lose. Washington is terrible. Every conference has their share of below average teams.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Nice to have the honor of #1, but we still have a long way to go. After Western Carolina we have the potential for 4 very difficult games against teams who are aiming for us, and we will have to win them all.

I love the drama though. Roll Tide!

The PAC 12 is not far behind the SEC. For me, it's hands down the second best conference. Remember we have the SEC east which is not very good (All the talk about UGA drives me crazy). The SEC West is the strength of the conference. No doubt that Oregon is the best team in your conference. This year it's not even close. Just like OM was a fluke day for Bama the same was true for Arizona and Oregon. (Seriously how did you guys let a defense led by a guy named Scooby stop you?)

Frantically googling "University of Arizona Scooby"...

All around terrible game. Uninspired play. Severe o-line injuries (more than just Fisher, the lineman everyone talks about). Stupid penalties (one of our players ran to the center of the field and bowed to the crowd after a critical 4th quarter, 3rd down stop that allowed them to continue the drive and score, when they would have been forced to punt; officials taking all the fun out of the game). And pink helmets.

That's why you lost: pink helmets. Your players were thinking of fun bags instead of fundamentals.

I'd be curious to see if FSU wins out, they'd be ahead of us in the BCS, assuming we win out too. Call me crazy, but an undefeated team in a major conference should be higher than a one loss team. I know we've played tougher opponents than FSU and they've basically played a lot of mediocre teams, but there's something to be said for winning them all.

But the ACC isn't a major conference!

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

There's no logic when it comes to this duckling. So don't bother. They have no pedigree, no championships, no class, and no chance.

I don't think that is entirely true. They do a good job with the Aflac commercial!
I like having the guy here, bless his heart. He belongs in the south; it's not his fault he's an Oregon fan. He just has no one to talk football with up in that corner of the U.S. Plus, a Buckeye is allowed to wander in and out of here and I've sort of grown fond of seeing his comments. It gives us insight into the football played in foreign lands.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

State will be in the Top 4, if and only if there are only 4 teams with 1 loss.

By putting 2 SEC teams in, and then pitting the against each other ensures one SEC team playing for the Championship. If two get in and you split them up, you run the risk of them both playing in the CG. If Bama and State both lose ..... No SEC teams will get in, in FSU, Oregon, TCU/Baylor, and Ohio State win out.

With that said, I think tOSU loses it Wisconsin. Oregon loses the p12cg and it's

Bama, FSU, State, Baylor.

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

To get off the Ducks for a minute

Im not sure how I feel about the poll, I think Bama is at it's Best with a little disrespect thrown in by the media & others. I don't want us to play State again, sorry that's just me. Bazza said it Best with Just win baby & that is it.

We are going to see if this team can bring it all the way name to #16.

If we play (which I think we can) like we did against A & M there is NO team in CFB we can't beat especially the ducks or rapis

Re: Week 4 CFP poll released

Remember all the hate from the "we don't need a repeat" game a few years ago? It was what killed the BCS. The committee will use some loophole to drop MSU to 5, because a repeat game, or 2 SEC teams playing for the national championship, was what CFP was specifically set up to avoid. Their goal is a slate of teams from 4 different conferences.

To me, right now it looks like: Alabama - Oregon - FSU - Ohio State
