Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

If Groh is bringing what I saw of the Rams yesterday then I hope he drives on down to Auburn and provides them a helping hand.

Groh has very good reputation for developing Wide receivers. I can see Groh as one of the option to come back as WR coach, if Napier takes the OC spot. Both would be Co-OC.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I'm skeptical of the internal hire but I can't even think of an outside the box choice for who to bring into the fold...

Same here. None of the other Alabama guys approaches Kiffin or Sark. Maybe Peterson after you process Washington. ;-)

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I realize some of these guys are not realistic, but is that true? They might be interested in coaching for Coach Saban to add to their resume and learning from a different coach than their current coach they are with now.

I agree. I just don't think the next o.c. will be someone on staff or has been on staff. Saban seems to like going in a different direction when choosing the o.c.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I read where Tua's dad and Tua want Sark to be the OC since they have a good relationship with him already... I just hope whoever we get does well and that our current recruits decide to still come, esp Tua. It would be great to have him ready behind Jalen.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I've not heard a peep (and doubt I will), but I can't imagine Saban hiring anyone who hasn't shown proficiency in the more modern offensive style that CLK is running here. I think anyone with a background in pro-set is off the list right out of the gate. Finding someone who can blend power with RPO and RO offenses like CLK has won't be easy, but I'm sure there are a few out there...

This...might even be someone who hasn't been named, but I'm almost certain CNS likes what CLK did with Jalen this year with one exception...be willing to run it a little quicker. (not sure that should actually be in blue)

That's why I think helfrich is a possibility.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Could be that we go in whole-hog with a spread OC?

No matter what the new OC's previous scheme was, IMO CNS will always demand the ability to have some power run principles and the ability to line up under center if the situation calls for it.

I think this is something all teams should have. It is honestly easier to bring the spread to the pro-style than the other way around. Some of these guys have went all the way up through playing ball and coaching ball without using under-center.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I for one thinks the job should go to Sark. There isn't anyone available that is more qualified for the job, and some would say he is ever better than Kiffin. We can continue with where we are and not miss a beat. I honestly believe that if Coach Saban can micromanage Kiffin and keep him in-line, why could he not with Sark.

One thing for sure is that Alabama's OC will be coveted job. Highly likely IMO that CNS gets who he wants most.
