Bama will win with them or without them.
True to a point but if the WR corps had followed through on their threats to bolt, it surely would have had an effect on next year.

Maybe the 2 years ('14 and '15) when they also had over 2,000 yards rushing.
But they didn't so nothing really to see in that vein. Look, we can nit pick until the cows come home but we, the most spoiled fanbase in the WORLD, need to let our man process this thing how he wants to regardless of what many of us opine.
Dumpster fire or not, that's still 2 division titles in the toughest conference in America. No disrespect intended to Mcelwain....But if you look at the sec east in 2016. it was a dumpster fire. I know he lost his qb in 2015. I guess I can cut him some slack for that season.

ESPN stats.Link? I am Not calling you a liar but I am trying to figure out where previous teams ranked statistically in certain categories. I remember Ole Miss being dreadful at running the ball under freeze compared to the rest of the sec. But I could be wrong.
I'd only bring Freeze in as an Offense analyst.
If Freeze would have to serve a 2-game ( conference games mind you ) suspension, why would anybody be considering for an OC position. If we see him, it will likely be in an advisory capacity only JMHO.
But play calling does matter - a lot - especially in close games, like Bama always encounters in the CFP. Most are not great at the "art" of play calling. OC involves much more than that, but it is very important.I don't think it matters that much, really. The OC is just going to call the plays from the existing playbook anyway, not bring in their own. The nice thing when you do bring someone from the outside, is that they do get to add new twists and wrinkles to what is already there, like Lane did during his time. We aren't likely to get that from Locksley. But I wouldn't sweat that too much. I doubt much changes other than what plays are called when. And I am sure Nick will have a bit of say in that as well.
If a coach can't handle us hashing this out on a message board, it's not my problem.

People honestly think Jim McElwain should be rehired? On what grounds? We faced him three times. The average score was 38-12.
We went 37-3 and won two national championships with him as OC.
