Unless someone on staff leaves, I think the hiring is done. Titles and roles not exactly clear on the defense yet.
Offense:So, do we still have openings for an on-field / off-field staff and do we have any speculations of who if so? Also, are we assuming Tosh will be DC with Pete Golding being Co - DC?
Lol, yeah, I know, but we all know coaches never leave...how many jobs did Ansley have since January 1st?You do realize Pruitt has already hired everyone for his staff?
Is Banks a kicking specialist as well?Offense:

- Gattis, WR
- Key, OL
Defense:
- Dunbar, DL
- Lupoi, OLB/co-DC
- Golding
- Scott, DB
Special Teams:

Pannunzio
Expectation is Pannunzio will go to an off-the-field role. It has not been announced, though. RGW is right. The hiring appears to be complete. The titles of some of the guys are undecided.
As a former kicker, he better be.Is Banks a kicking specialist as well?
Roger that. Glad we’ve finally got one.As a former kicker, he better be.

IDK, but it's pretty amazing that a STs coach not coaching technique is the norm. Kicking is such a big part of the game that impacts the final score. I've never understood why it's basically a "one man show" with kicking specialists.Interesting on Banks. Apparently, he will coach kicking technique in addition to protections and coverages.
That's unusual. Mostly, special teams coaches supervise the protections and coverages, but the specialists get most, if not all, of their tutoring from private coaches.
I like the idea, and am fully supportive. It's just new.
Anybody know of any other school where the technique coach is on staff? Has Alabama ever had that?
It sounds like a huge jump for Tosh. Saban seems to be surrounding him with all the help he can get. That isn't to say Tosh can't fill the shoes but to have never called a defensive game in your life and suddenly be the defensive coordinator at the University of Alabama, quite possibly THE gold standard for defensive play under maybe the greatest defensive mind of this coaching generation, has to be crazy intimidating. Seems pretty clear that coach felt the same way but A. had enough faith in Tosh to pull the trigger and B. Also knows that that defense is his purview, so youth isn't the worst thing to have at that position.
For me, I hope we maintain our aggressive nature. There was a STARK difference between the tenure of Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruitt. Pruitt, in my opinion, was the better DC in part because he was more creative and daring with his play calling. (Bet Kirby wishes he'd called something a little more original than cover-2 on that 2nd and 26 play...) I hope that trend continues with Tosh. I would think so given his work with the OLB's and his faith in their pass rushing abilities, but we shall see. With his youth and with Saban's involvement who knows how much freedom he will actually get. Pruitt already had an NC ring and a few years at an SEC school when he came on board.
I wouldn't say huge jump because I think he was being groomed to eventually be the DC, but I could be wrong. It sounds like a huge jump for Tosh. I like this move because I think it means we'll have Tosh for at least 2-3 years like you say but maybe 5+ years. This is first time as defensive coordinator so I don't think he'll be able to make a jump to head coach after just 2 years. I like this better than brining in another established coach who is likely 1 and done like Daboll or Pruitt..Now that Tosh has been named DC the head coaching job clock has started. We have another 2-3 years of Tosh and then he will be a HC somewhere.
Agreed. Pruitt had so much success elsewhere that he didn't need to stick around longer to build his resume. Tosh should stick around for awhile.I like this move because I think it means we'll have Tosh for at least 2-3 years like you say but maybe 5+ years.
