You can’t be. It’s not humanly possible.we were going 3 and out so often due to terrible 3rd down conversion rates by the offense in 2016 and 2017 that they ought to be prepped for that quick turnaround.
I'd echo all of this but add that the tackling has been really, really poor as well. Even when they're where they're supposed to be and execute well, it's a pretty good bet the first guy (or two) isn't bringing the ball carrier down. This is such a weird feeling for me because I see a litany of problems that have landmined championship caliber teams here before. Our back seven, especially at linebacker, looks lost way too often. It ain't a footspeed problem nor starting experience issue either. Gotta lay the blame with the defensive staff leadership at some point. The kids are not really getting any better the further we get into the season. We were getting beat by the same concepts all day. Maybe they were trying to adjust but it didn't look like it in practice. So either the players are not taking coaching or the coaching they're getting ain't staying ahead of the opponent. This OL reminds me way too much of the 2013 unit for my comfort. That unit was really high quality in pass pro but couldn't move a pile in short yardage. People want to remember the 2013 Iron Bowl for the kick six but the real reason that game was lost was due to 3-4 short yardage situations where the OL flat out didn't get the job done. Placekicking, well it is University of Alabama placekicking since Tiffin graduated.
I'm really concerned about what happens when the offense inevitably runs into a defense that can cover well enough and get some pressure on our QBs. Especially if said team can maintain balance and not let our DL pin their ears back en route to the quarterback. Mizzou may be some heartburn next week but that trip to Baton Rouge is gonna be a litmus test for this team.
That QB only has meaningful playing time starting last week. Yeah Arky had a good game plan and executed well, but we gave up 400yds of offense to a team that got schooled by North Texas. They aren't a nobody offense. That QB made some very precise throws against excellent coverage. Coach Saban said they were a lot better than their record made it look.
Yah we should have given up less, but we have to give credit to Arky. They had an excellent game plan and executed very very well.

It seemed like our guys were out of position a lot.Someone should quit worrying about the students and start worrying about the defense.
which one

Story was the starter. Kelly played few times in the game, mostly in red zone.I thought I read Storey replaced Kelly in this game.
I'm concerned about Dylan and Mack... I think they should let Dylan call plays and just let mack play.... we gotta try something different. It seemed like our guys were out of position a lot.

2010 is probably the closest in terms of talent. 2012-2014 were slow-footed units that couldn't even get to the guy in space enough to miss the first tackle.I'd echo all of this but add that the tackling has been really, really poor as well. Even when they're where they're supposed to be and execute well, it's a pretty good bet the first guy (or two) isn't bringing the ball carrier down.
Not sure the last time we fielded a defense this frustrating to watch, but it's been a long long while.
Highlighting the North Texas game is like bringing up the ODU game against Va Tech. It was an abberation. That QB only has meaningful playing time starting last week. Yeah Arky had a good game plan and executed well, but we gave up 400yds of offense to a team that got schooled by North Texas.
Our DBs and LBs have been running in circles for weeks and I have seen basically no improvement either game to game or during games.
The defense isn’t bad, but it is not the great unit everyone is pretending it is either. We have some outstanding individual playmakers like Thompson, but overall I think this is our worst defense in years.
They were units in transition as Saban flipped defensive philosophies.2010 is probably the closest in terms of talent. 2012-2014 were slow-footed units that couldn't even get to the guy in space enough to miss the first tackle.
Storey didn’t play in the North Texas game. Arkansas played 3 other QBs and ended up throwing 6 interceptions. Doubt the game goes that way if they play again with Storey starting.Arkansas QB.
He’s inching closer and closer to Berg Mowins.I’ve tried really hard to like GMac as a commentator, but I would have to agree. He tries way too hard to NOT show Bama bias.

That is so crazy. I wonder what the record is for not punting. :biggrin:We haven’t punted the last 2 games. Skyler DeLong’s redshirt still intact [emoji28]
He's right but it's also not good to give up 400 yards of offense to the other team. I dont need to know much about football to understand that that's bad. This isn't a good look for Mack.![]()
