Before anyone complains about our defense, we have to remember that it was 2nd string and third string in the game. We are blowing out the teams so bad that we're going to third string defense in 4th quarter.

A least we don't have to play a high powered passing offense during the regular season. It would be to close if we did. This is not the type of D im used to seeing from UofA.

Defense needs some work. The offense is just on another level.

A least we don't have to play a high powered passing offense during the regular season. It would be to close if we did. This is not the type of D im used to seeing from UofA.

Ole Miss and Mizzou are about as high powered as passing attacks get.

Arky's first few drives were against our first string D. They need work.

I am fairly certain I saw some 1st string D in the game in mid 4th quarter also. If our defense does not improve, LSU might give us a good game, especially at their place.

I am sure that his post was about a lot more hateful stuff being said than has been posted on TF, and I am sure that he is probably right if he is talking to that audience.

Best offense that I have ever seen. Defense is going to have to figure out some of this stuff because other teams will try to follow the path led by the Arkansas offense today. Spread out the defense and use the TEs and RBs in the pass game. Run the ball with the QB and RBs when the pass rushers and LBs get too aggressive. They essentially ignored their WRs and attacked your LBs in the pass game.

Is it our players, the communication, the coaching, or what? It needs to be fixed for Missouri's offense, LSU, and Auburn. I wish Jeremy Pruitt would have stayed another year. Not sure if that would have helped or not. I know we have many new players, but 31 points by Arkansas?

If you're like me(a Debbie all the way downer for sure) let's say their fumble gets recovered by them and our fumble is recovered by them, as it might be in the playoffs. We are now down against an inferior team. What happens then? I get we won by 40, but god dang what if. If you view me as a "hater" good for you. But saban said talk about negatives so I am.

The defensive line got pushed around, the secondary looked lost, so many uncovered backs out of the backfield, the middle screen killed us early on. Our DBs continue to have problems on crossing routes. It appears the defense has regressed. What does happen when we play a team that has a top tier defense?

No way for me to figure that out. I don't know what they knew, what their reads were, or what the defensive calls were. So, was it poor game planning, poor pre-snap reads, poor defensive calls by Mack, mistakes by players, players taking chances and trying to do too much? No idea, but probably a little of all of these things by the look of it.

My biggest concern is the lack of adjustment by the defensive coaching staff at halftime. Arkansas did nothing new in the second half. I get the 14 points in the first half - I do not understand the 17 scored in the second half.

He's talking to people on Twitter who are, in his defense, mostly idiots.

Twitter is a cesspool of hot takes, overreactions, and manufactured outrage.

Most Bama fans can have a healthy worry and critique of the defense while acknowledging that, even with correctable issues in place, this team is still good enough at this moment to win it all.

We always need to get much better in many places. For once, a young defense is making us a little queasy. I haven't worried about the D since 2014.

And to be fair, this is the first game all season that our young defense really looked young. I think it's a bit if a return to earth and provides a ton of tape that can be corrected.

Like RGW said it's not an ability or foot speed issue. Its mental errors. It will just reinforce what Saban preaches. He is a defensive guru. I trust him to work on the minds of our team. We were due for some sort of letdown.

It's something that needs to be looked at, but it's really not as worrying as some people are making it. We will be fine.

And to be real, I would still expect Mizzou to have some success through the air....then again I thought the same about Louisville and Ole Miss.

We've got the talent. Just need to get it between the ears and maintain focus. I trust our staff to get our guys there.

Exactly. And wasn't the 2016 defense supposed to be the best we ever fielded?

It's a long season. Sometimes players lose focus and overlook opponents or get low in a game.

Our guys are good. They can get better, but they are very good. Coach is gonna work on them.
