Not if they had not ranked them in the top 25.
This is my point. It is clear that the rankings 5-25 are about lining things up for the bowls and their existing relationships. UGA couldn't fall much because the Sugar rather have UGA than Florida. Couldn't rate Alabama more according to what the metrics say they are because it would've put Alabama in an NY6 bowl over a committee member AD's team (Florida).

At least Rece and these guys are admitting that the committee screwed BAMA this time around.
Us dropping to #13 confirms to me that we weren’t getting in if we had beaten Auburn, the committee’s agenda was to leave us out at all costs after Tua’s injury.

Thinking Bama would be favored in all the games if we played 5 through 12....the CFP is awful
Not sure Alabama wouldn't be pretty heavily favored against everyone other than the top 3 teams. Sadly, Alabama did not get to beat a single ranked team in 2019.

Agreed. Personally, I am happy to not be playing Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

The committee is trash and it always has been. Picking the top 4 teams is easy. It’s never been about the top 4 teams. It was always about the rest of the bowls and protecting them. We were just the collateral damage this go around. There is no logic; don’t try to apply it to this process. And if you want transparency, you’ll get more from the SEC refs.

Well, I hope all of our guys decide to play in the bowl game, and that they all show up ready to kick big butt. Nothing more to do than beat Michigan worse than OSU did.

Need a caveat to contract that if conference doesn't have a team in top 15 then the slot opens up for an at-large team.
That would be nice, but would any conference actually go for it. It would probably have to be forced on them. Sorry Virginia, but with your record and eye test, you should not even be sniffing a major bowl. I would love to see this caveat put in place.

True...but the CFP is a self-fulfilling prophecy...THEY make the rankings ....so can manipulate who plays a ranked opponent. Bama at 13 is stupid, UT at 11 is laughable as is Baylor/UW rankings

I think 2014's top four was affected by football politics but it was really the CFP punting on dealing with the absurd situation the Big-12 tried to create to game the system for 2 playoff selections (not clearly declaring the h2h winner of the TCU-Baylor game their conference champion). Ohio State having a hot three games with a 3rd string QB made them smell like roses but the truth is that Baylor was kinda screwed (which after the sexual assault problems nobody cares about anymore either).
