They had to do it. Bowl tie-ins and all.
Not if they had not ranked them in the top 25.

Well ... duh.More important that our team is actually motivated though...
This is my point. It is clear that the rankings 5-25 are about lining things up for the bowls and their existing relationships. UGA couldn't fall much because the Sugar rather have UGA than Florida. Couldn't rate Alabama more according to what the metrics say they are because it would've put Alabama in an NY6 bowl over a committee member AD's team (Florida). Not if they had not ranked them in the top 25.
Need a caveat to contract that if conference doesn't have a team in top 15 then the slot opens up for an at-large team. They had to do it. Bowl tie-ins and all.
At least Rece and these guys are admitting that the committee screwed BAMA this time around.
Not sure Alabama wouldn't be pretty heavily favored against everyone other than the top 3 teams. Sadly, Alabama did not get to beat a single ranked team in 2019.Thinking Bama would be favored in all the games if we played 5 through 12....the CFP is awful

Rece clearly believes that Alabama got hosed by getting dropped so much, but he didn't challenge the chair on that. Shame on him. Alabama deserved a little more there.BS explanation by the committe chair....
the only explanations they ever got reallyBS explanation by the committe chair....
Outside the top 4, I think that has always been the case. This year's rankings are the first I can say without hesitation were heavily influenced by football politics instead of an honest attempt to rank teams in order of who is best.
