It's the one thing that makes the patriots the patriots IMO. No one is better at taking a guy who is really good at one thing and just making them do that over and over again while minimizing the need to make them do things they are bad at.NFL scouts sometimes act like the prospect will be the only player on the football field. Yeah, of course they’re good at some things and not others. That stuff isn’t real scouting...that is just message board smack with some truth in it. The point with evaluating players is having a dispassionate understanding of what they can and cannot do and whether those things can work within your scheme.
I’m sure the Bears looked at it like: “he’s not a safety that will be a plus in run support but our scheme and personnel does not need that as much as they need ballhawks who can run down bad balls forced by front line pressure.â€Â
