But MIKE GUNDY said Oklahoma State would be practicing May 1st because money needed to flow in Oklahoma and his young men were healthy, didnt you read that? I actually think some of his brains leached out of his head when his mullet grew out during his Leathal Weapon phase. 😬

I agree - if it isn't safe for fans, it isn't safe for players. But you can contact trace players - you cannot contract trace fans at huge events without something like the phone apps being developed by apple and google.

The P5 schools could get away playing with no fans because they still get big money from TV. But smaller schools would go broke playing with no revenue.

And the idea of playing in the spring is crazy. If they can’t get started by October they just need to forget the whole thing.

I could see starting late playing just conference games but what do the independent schools do?

And the first player that gets sick will sue the school into oblivion.

If it's not safe for the fans, zero chance the players are asked to play, imo.

If there is no college football this season, then that most likely means no college basketball in 2020-2021. So another year of no NCAA tournament...that is hard to even fathom. Maybe.... just maybe the 2021 college baseball season happens on a delayed start with no fans for a few weeks. But even that is an outside chance. What will be the first sport to make a full return with fans and all? MLB 2021? Maybe?

I am not giving up on football this year. I am trying to revive my optimistic side.

I suppose one plus that football has is time. There is still a good bit of time between now and when the players would need to begin summer workouts. Sadly, the other spots had no time at all as their seasons were in progress when this nightmare began. Now...what happens in that time is anyone's guess. Do things get better or Lord forbid, do they somehow get worse? As someone else said, at least things are trending in the right direction presently. So that trend would need to continue, of course. But, it's a start nonetheless.

When Dr Faici and scarf lady said a couple of weeks ago that they were deeply concerned about Birmingham possibly becoming the next epicenter, I said right then and there that that was it for college football for the foreseeable future. However, while cases have increased in Alabama, Birmingham becoming the next epicenter seems erroneous. If the overall pattern can continue to defy the predictions, then maybe...we eek out a season.

I hope we can as well...epicenters revolve around the issues of poverty (and all the issues that go with it) and housing density. In our larger cities the poor often live in multigenerational homes -- which helps with care and expenses, but is deadly when dealing with a pandemic.
If we still played @ Legion Field I would say there is no way under heaven the season is played...but being in Tuscaloosa is another story. Same goes for AU, UGA, MSU, Arky and a lot of the SEC. However, UT, LSU, UF, & USC are in the middle of more metropolitan areas...hence a greater risk factor for all concerned.
 
Because CFB is a completely different animal than the NFL, I suspect there's no season at all this year.

This does not make me happy to say, and I hope I'm wrong.
 
In all honesty, and this is just my opinion which doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but, I don't think there should be any large gatherings of people until a commercial vaccine is available. I know this will not be a popular opinion, especially on a sports forum but, it is just not worth the risk.

Until there is a vaccine, there is no way to truly defeat this thing. It may look like it is gone in a few months but, the second large gatherings start happening, the spreading of the virus just starts all over. I think some of the economy needs to start reopening within the next couple months but, large gatherings like sports, concerts, movie theaters and political rallies should be banned until a vaccine is released.

Those things are just not essential, no matter how much we love watching Alabama football. Shoot, it's killing me not having MLB right now. I still have tickets to a June 9th Braves game because they will not offer refunds until it is officially canceled. Even if MLB makes the stupid decision to start things up by June, I'm not sure I will feel safe going to a stadium with 30,000+ other people around. It's not worth the health risk until we know for sure that this things has been defeated, otherwise we will end up right back where we are today.
