Yes we have a good chance. You can talk about the Mannings and hating Alabama, but they do not hate Nick Saban.

And Peyton Manning went to Tennessee because of David Cutcliffe. That's also why Eli Manning went to Ole Miss.

That said, somebody like Texas probably has a great chance because of Sark.
IF Sark can stay off the sauce, IF he can recruit an o-line, receivers and a defense, IF he's allowed to run his own program. Then, yes.

we are in it deep with manning couldn't believe it but BOB is huge here
O'Brien must be selling something other than himself here. While there are no guarantees a coach at any school will be in the same spot next week, much less 27 months from now, there's a good chance he won't be on the staff in the fall of 2023. And it's not realistic to think he'd still be here through Arch's career.

I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see a former college and NFL HC staying on as a college OC for 5 years.

If BOB is gone back to the NFL CNS will hire another great OC. It's a proven fact. He's selling CNS's OC success.

You nailed it.
Bryce Young was very highly rated, and seems to be getting good reviews.
Ty Simpson is extremely highly regarded.
Is there something “more special” about Arch, or is it just a matter of kicking a little sand in a few faces?

I could be dead wrong ( been known to happen ! ), but I don`t see him at Alabama for two reasons. 1. Bryce Young and 2. Ty Simpson. Arch is obviously super talented and can start from day one at another school without the pressure/ competition. I just don`t see a " wait your turn " scenario playing out with this kid. This may may sound critical of Arch and his family, but I honestly don`t mean it to be so. Having said all that, would love to have him at Bama!

I have grown to despise this comment: we will win with or without him.

Even to me it comes across as flippant and egotistical, so I can imagine how potential recruits - especially the player the statement is referencing - would interpret it. Can't we, as a fan base, get past this statement? It has been so overused. Granted there is some validity to it as CNS has proven that we can win with or without any one particular player - the program achieved this status several years ago. So, while player X may not be a must have, one could certainly make the argument that winning could be/would be made easier with him instead of without him.

Tell it to Coach Saban:

Yes, I'm well aware Coach made the comment to Julio... but that doesn't mean we, as a fanbase, have to continue to use the phrase 15 years later about practically every top player we recruit that may or may not have us at the top of his list. I would be surprised to learn that Coach still uses this approach when talking to a recruit and his family - even though it is a truer statement today than when he said it to Julio. We're often reminded that players and recruits read our board and I doubt seeing the comment casts us in a good light or aids our recruiting effort. No doubt Coach doesn't care what I think but it doesn't change my viewpoint - it's disappointing to see our fans essentially telling kids "we don't need you, we'll take you, but we don't really need you." Just my opinion.

I think at this point in time we commoners use it as a balm to soothe the ego, or dampen the flames of panic when a valued recruit goes elsewhere. That phrase is a reminder of the time when Alabama couldn’t afford to lose a prized recruit, but our head coach had enough belief in himself and the players around him to say that. The phrase also reminds us that indeed Alabama has gone on to great success without the presence of a valued recruit we missed out on. That phrase reminds us that the architect of our success is the head coach, and not one single highly recruited player.
