Everybody on this board needs to read this and let it soak in. When opponents start saying stuff like this there's a problem in the program.

I’m going to defer to Selma, but I recall someone saying the exact same thing about Bama five or six years ago(maybe). Maybe someone from Ole Miss, not certain - he didn’t compare, just said Bama’s defense wasn’t that tough and didn’t hit that hard.
Tennessee hates Bama way more than they hate Georgia, so this guy’s quote means nothing.
Having said that-who needs glasses to see what he says is true? Costco has a sale on right now…

Taking into consideration the amount of talent we have accumulated, fans wanting their team to be a part of the national championship race isn't spoiled. It would be one thing if we didn't have the talent and getting upset because we're not in the race. But when you have the talent we have accumulated and are getting beat by teams that are rebuilding (LSU) and barely beating teams that shouldn't be within 17 points of you, getting upset is normal and expected. Competitive people want to win all the time, and sports were invented for competitive people. Most fans who take the time to watch their favorite team don't do so in hopes their team just has a good showing and winning is just a bonus.

Also, who on this board is calling for Saban to retire? I may have missed it, but you referred to that in one of your earlier posts and I do not remember seeing anyone calling for Saban to retire. The main thing I've seen that is anywhere close to that is if Saban doesn't make changes at the OC and DC spots he's more than likely done winning titles at Alabama. Which is probably correct. Saban is the GOAT, and for the most part, has made good hires, but he has whiffed on Gold*ng and O'Brien and that is why we're out of the championship race in early November.
I saw several posts hinting at Saban should walk away. Go back. More than you my realize.

Why are you moving the goalposts? I haven’t said “Saban isn’t working on it” or “Saban is unaware of it”, I’m simply saying what most everyone who knows any thing about the sport recognizes- this team lack discipline and the coordinators are hindering the team, not helping.

if objeectivly pointing out failures is ‘entitlement’ then I don’t know why a discussion forum even exists.
Moving the goalposts? I was responding to your comment about Saban’s commitment to a certain standard. It seemed as though you were suggesting, based on my original post, that the fanbase should hold Saban to a level of greatness each season. I just find that as entitled.

I believe that he said that Saban should hold himself to this standard.

Maybe I just need a break from the site. Maybe I’m just a bit emotional right now, especially living here in South Louisiana.

But to lose 2 games on two Plays regardless of how/why, and to have “fans” calling for Saban to step down is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen.

We mock the fools in Lee County for far less. Coach Bryant had love and admiration until the day he died (and even beyond). But our spoiled brat fan base can’t deal with a two-loss team? So we push out the 71 year old who is about to sign the greatest recruiting class maybe ever?

Navigating new recruiting rules. A portal. And other changes. A Coach who played for a NC less than 11 months ago?

Who in the Hell do we think we are? we don’t deserve him, apparently

Very sad day in the Bama Nation. Embarrassing
BRAVO! Absolutely spot on. I hope our fans remember that every teams fanbase would love to have Alabama's "problems" yet we have fans calling out the greatest head coach who's put together the greatest run in college football history? Get outta here please!

We're still loaded with talent and about to bring in another incredible class. I get the emotional letdown from last night, I am gut punched just like everyone else. However, this is still ALABAMA and we're still the epitome of college football.

No one with any sense believes that anymore. It’s UGA. They’re the standard now.
These same folks watch Georgia curb stomp Mizzou? I think not.
Georgia will be in the conversation as long as KS is there - but until they match Bama’s run (which likely ain’t over), it’ll start every year with th NC running through T-town. Has for most of Saban’s time here and that’ll end when he leaves.

I think it was obvious to everyone that Bryce’s injury seems to be worsening. His throws in the first half were very erratic but improved in the second half. I’m sure he was given something for pain and he looked better. That being said, he’s definitely lost a little zip. I hope he hasn’t damaged it to the point he may require surgery. RTR.

I believe the “don’t run” notion has been hammered into him the last two years. Buy time moving around in the pocket, get to the sideline or throw it away. And the shoulder injury has exacerbated it. And the defenses we are facing know it. He may run downfield, but only as last resort. Stay back on your man until he gets to the LOS. Then release. He’ll get a few yards but then get down or go out of bounds. That is exactly what LSU did on the end zone interception.

And I think it evident his shoulder is about 75% and lack of reps in practice has affected his accuracy. How many really deep throws did Bryce make last night, like “bomb types”? None that I recall. Think back to Mississippi State. He had Burton breaking open wide open about 30 yards deep. Burton had to wait because it was severely under thrown.
1) The problem is, he doesn't even do that.

I GET the rest of it. Honestly, I do.

2) He won't run when he's got a wide open field in front of him and dive into the end zone, either; he holds onto the ball and throws it and hopes our guy gets it.

I even realize that after the way Tua got hurt, there's an apprehension of losing millions of dollars.
But he does it even when it's not necessary - and that has nothing to do with being hurt this year OR Bill O'Brien.

is he still missing reps at practice? He just looked “off” last night.

IMO there is some sort of twisted loyalty behind Saban not making a change at dc before the year began or during the year when concerns have continually shown themselves. This is also applicable to our oc as of this current year.

While he may have persuaded or recommended for some assistants to look around, Saban is not one to openly fire assistants. Saban likes structure, continuity and tries to avoid distractions so normally he makes coaching changes he feels are not working out, ie major applewhite, or coaches that have accepted other jobs, in the off season, with the exception being kiffin. However, regarding these most recent hires to me he has been obscenely patient.

Saban specifically stated in an interview after all of the coaching turnover, rehab stints, that he was asking new hires to make a commitment and not just leave after a year. He understands the launchpad principle and he wants his assistants to be successful and advance. This is widely shown throughout the current landscape of college football, all you have to do is look at his coaching tree, but he also wants some stability from them not just stop here, coach a year or two so you can leave and get another job or promotion.

Therefore, IMO he has let this current situation with the oc and dc go on longer possibly due these reasons, ie. his wanting to be loyal, avoid bringing on new coaches again so soon, and or to honor a gentleman’s agreement.

Regardless it is very evident changes need to be made and especially at dc. With the exception of a very few players we play soft and our tackling, technique, schemes are abysmal at times. When kirby left pruitt did not really miss a beat and there was negligible drop off if any but since then it has been a struggle. Talent can hide flaws and weaknesses especially in coaching. Up to now we have been winning despite some atrocious undisciplined play and extremely subpar coaching, but like the saying goes keep playing with fire and you are going to get burned.

As far as those calling for him to step down, that is plain and simple deplorable and ridiculous. He is called the 🐐 by many for a reason and I have confidence that he will find a solution to right the ship. Even our bad years under Saban, with exception of 2007, would be banner, all worldly types of years for many programs.

Coach Saban IMO has more than earned pretty much a lifetime free pass with the entire University of Alabama and all of its fan bases. What he has done for the entire University and the positive impact he has generated and created throughout the university and state is immense. To think that some people question whether or not he should be fired or forced out after 2 tough losses, one at the end of regulation and the other a 2pt conversion in ot, also both games were on the road in two of the toughest environments to play in college football playing against two teams who are playing very well and ranked in the top 10, is truly amazing. We really are a spoiled rotten fan base and regretfully sometimes the bad side shows.

Something else that really bothered me was comment by a tenner player, wr hyatt possibly, that BAMA was not nearly as physical as jawjaw.

We used to strike fear in our opponents because of our physicality, in fact we took pride in it as a team and fan base. Teams dreaded playing us and openly talked about how physical we were. More reasons why we need some changes and a strong look at getting a new dc and our sc program since cochran’s departure.

I don’t think the players on this team are bad, it seems like they’re playing hard (maybe not with a certain intensity that we’re used to) I don’t see them taking plays off (correct me if I’m wrong) but they just look lost, everything just looks difficult, even most of Bryce’s TDs this year have come from him doing his best Fran Tarkenton/Brett Favre/Patrick Mahomes impression.
I totally agree with you. There's nothing smooth on the field with this team. It's hard to accept cause we have all the talent in the world but for whatever reason (DC and OC's playcalling, lack of physicality, lack of alpha), our boys are not doing their job properly.
